Funny I don't remember being consulted on wether we should stick with the financial mess of teh ARL or sign up for the money grabbing SL?

You really don't want that sore to heal do you? keep picking at the scab and living in the past dally, it makes all the mistakes of today seem so much easier to deal with!

if you want to have a sook about no nrl club in perth, thats your own clubs fault.

your agenda of a sydney club moving to perth is like a tow truck driver after an accident.

sydney shouldnt have to lose any clubs for perth to gain a team. if thats the price to pay, then you guys can just stick to afl

It's less than 10km as the Crow flies. A tunnel to the city is actually more cost effective than trying to do anything iThrough the Lower North Shore, that's for certain.

Dally Knows everything, from 3rd Division European Rugby Union to the financial fortunes of AFL teams in the Ovens and Murray league however. Don't question him.

the nearest train station to manly would be where ? upper north shore, north sydeny.

bondi will get a train link before manly does.

if you think manly will get linked to the city via train in the next 20 years you are dreaming. go to queensland now then and save everyone the $20 million upgrade

Train?

More like a piece of Infrastructure that can support cars and Busses. There's an electoral revolt brewing on the Northern Beaches and they'll get some money spent on them soon. It will be a big piece of Infrastructure, and frankly the nightmare of a 5km metal box under the Harbour is more palatable than trying to resume half of Mosman.

that freeway that goes from manly to near the city? and bypasses the spit bridge.

i couldnt disagree more with the idea of the SFS. if the club cant find $20 - $40 million over the next 20 years to upgrade brookie then ill be surprised.

manly council should ensure the clubs future in the area given the economic benefits of the side playing in the area.

i just think you are too pessemistic on the clubs chances of getting that funding, either via public or from private sources.

as an example, council could get the car park rezoned and the money made from that could help redevelop the ground.

newcastle will have gotten $45 million for EAS so its not impossible.

the club just cant wait until 1 week before a federal election and then start asking for money.

like i said before, with no nrl clubs close by, manly should be playing where they are.

its up to the club to find the finances to fund it.

Newcastle got $45m because it's the heart of Northern NSW and there isn't a decent big stadium within 150km. Manly does not have that luxury.

We're moving unless we can raise $80m+ over the next few decades. Hopefully it's too the SFS and there's an easy way to get there, like a Tunnel.

gosford stadium was built for around $26 million total.

EAS got a whole new GS for around $25 million.

why should gettting 2 or 3 GS at Brookie plus some upgrades cost that much?

It's called 'Inflation.' Multiply that Newcastle total by 4 and you oddly enough get a number close to $80m. Everything except the Arko stand needs demolishing, and even that needs some major work done on it.

It's fantasy land stuff.

im in the building game and costs have risen by that much overall.

you are talking about a 4 sided ground with GS as required to keep manly at brookie?

id just do a side at the time as the funding gets down and crowds rise.

the jane try stand is hardly falling apart.

if the club has 20 years to fix it, theyll be fine.

they just started really chasing funds in the last few years and have $10 million so far.

imagine what theyll achieve in 20?

every game at brookie these days they are getting people to donate to getting it upgraded, and having people sign petitions etc.

brookie is much loved part of the area and the club should stay there,

moving to the SFS would be a tragedy.

coast was very wet tonight

19k great crowd considering, and one must consider that the facility at the gold coast is very good for protection from elements, and the crowd could have been much less in a worse venue.

manly will need to move to a better stadium, no other way....unless a white knight comes to their aid with 50-100 million to upgrade brookvale.

I don't see why Manly can't keep playing out of Brookvale Oval. They get pretty decent crowds there. Plus, they can start some mudslide competitions on the Eastern Hill on rainy days:lol:

Manly fans don't even bother with the SFS for a semi-final.

F*cking weather is conspiring against us... 22, 20, 21 in Sydney toward the weekend, then it drops to 16, 17 over Sat-Sun before going back up to 20 on Monday :x

The weather is one thing but you look at it, the bad timing of games has cost as a bit i think.

Manly/Roosters without origin stars pulled 13, with those stars there would have been 20 thousand.

Titans/Storm without origin stars pulled 19, with it would have been a full house of 27 thousand.

I don't know if they cant have a stand alone weekend for origin than they are going to have to figure out something maybe giving half the comp a bye and decide that on the top 8 teams that had the most origin stars this year, i know it can change a bit from year to year but thats the only solution i can think of.
