As opposed to most clubs who don't bother publicising the figures regularly on their websites? The 'Dogs and Souths among a couple of other clubs should be roundly applauded for putting the info out there, other clubs are either too gutless, lazy, or scared.

It's good that some clubs are putting the figures up.

But the Dogs IMO should just have the season tickets on the website.
Or have both on.

Souths one is just season tickets but usually they show both.
They will show both figures once the return to redfern tickets are sold.
They did the same last season.

Hate to make it another pissing contest, but the 'Dogs did this from day one with Terry Lamb delivering packages to members, starting with the first member. The videos are all on our website.

Always copying our ideas *tsk tsk*

So is there an actual list of membership numbers published?

If so, where can I find the info?

How many members have the Roosters attracted with their "New Attitude, New Beginning...... until Todd Carney f**ks it up for us" campaign?

There was/is a list on the NRL site but that was before Christmas. Not sure if there's an updated version though.

Thanks for that mate.

The site is showing the Dragons on about 3,800 ticketed members, but the news article had them at 6,000 after a Christmas rush - so not sure how up to date the figures are.

There was a thread on "which club has most supporters in Sydney" last year and looking at memberships it seems what most people thought to be the case. The Panthers 1,868 - Sea Eagles 1,847 - Roosters 1,822 & Sharks 1,756 are pretty much on par when it comes to their hard core supporter bases.

Of course success boosts numbers of people attending - but looking at those figures you can throw a blanket over the lot of em.

Souths, Dogs, Dragons appear to be the best supported with the Eels joining in based on last years success.

Good to see the Broncos already almost beating last seasons figures, as are Souths and the Dogs and Eels have already eclipsed theirs.

There should be another boost in numbers closer to the start of the season.

The problem with comparing ticketed members numbers is whether they ONLY count Season members, or 5 pass members etc.

Why is that a problem?

They're all buying memberships with tickets included?

The problem is people who attend matches more than a few times a year NOT purchasing memberships, I would've thought.

Wouldn't the clubs actually make more money if someone were to attend multiple matches and not have a membership?

Since memberships tend to be discounted.

As a WT member we recieve two $20 merchandise vouchers which must be used seperately (sneaky bastards)

3/4000 members x 2 merchandise transactions = upwards of 8000 merch sales....just one aspect of how memberships help clubs.

Guaranteed income before the season starts, allows them to organise their spending.

Not only that, but at this time of year the clubs basically make no other income. Gate takings and merchandise are way down when the season is over. Clubs still have expenses thouh. They still have to pay wages etc etc. Another issue is that the players still have to be paid. People think that players are paid only when the season is on. This is incorrect. Players are working once training starts. They get paid weekly or monthly throughout the entire year just like the rest of us.

Probably - but memberships give the clubs income during the closed season which allows them to better budget during the whole year.

Also, there are a fair whack of fans who buy memberships and then dont go to the games - so the clubs get that money anyway.

Plus there are those that go to games purely because they've already got the tickets. If their team is doing badly and they werent members they probably wouldnt go. These people buy drinks, food, t-shirts, scarves etc which also boosts income.

Plus membership means the clubs can email members on offers etc they wouldnt normally know about further boosting involvement in the club and thereby increasing income. Also, two for one tickets offers for members can be sent out - etc so members will be more likely to entice non members to come along with them as they have a vested interest in the club already.

All in all memberships offer clubs a variety of benefits and very few downsides. The more members the better imo.

Stop posting and think for thirty seconds.

A club could release 2 game ticketing packages for 10 bucks and sell a motza of them simply to get the $50,000 prize.

Or a club could "Sell" 10,000.00 season memberships at $5 each and reclaim the cash.

The numbers should include FULL season tickets only in regards to winning the cash etc.

Guess what, the NRL did think like that. It must be a season ticket. 2 game passes and the like don't count.

But they do count for the club. I buy those 2 game packs, not just for those tickets, but to support the club, as well as get first dibs on Grand Final tickets, supporter gear discounts, meet the player night invite etc.

Really everybody who likes League should be getting behind their team somehow, even if it is the cheapest membership, it all counts.
