The packages haven't been released yet, so we'll wait and see on the "value for money" bit.
Big Kev's come back from the grave it seems :sarcasm:
Good news on the packages though.
I guess you can offer that sort of value for money when you have a successful Leagues Club backing you up.
Membership's are one of our largest revenue streams and we don't have much else behind that which we can rely on to bring in the cash. Perhaps when or Leagues club gets up and running again, we will enjoy some lower Membership costs? Although I doubt it. More likely, is that the Dogs will have a few years of reeling in new members at cheap prices and then will probably slowly ramp up the membership rates. Time will tell I guess.
I dont think thats the point!
The Point is that both our teams play in an 80,000 seat stadium.
Surley its better to have a slightly lower price - so we can fill as many seats as we can, which means more members which in turn will lead to more revenue.
Your point would be valid if it was a suburban ground, but at ANZ?????????
Its economies of scale though. Finding that point where you can maximise crowds and revenue. Souths had more members than the Dogs last year even at the higher price that we charged. If we were to drop prices by $5, $10, $20 per ticket, would we get a significantly higher boost in the number of memberships we sold? Maybe.... Would the increased ticket sales make up for the loss in revenue per ticket? Judging by the Dogs experience so far... No. Were Dogs crowds significantly larger than ours because of this lower membership? Not really.
While the Dogs had larger crowds than us, they were also in the 8 for most of the year. If the Doggies turn around this year and snare an extra 15 - 20k members then Souths will probably look at their strategy again, but I would say that based on all the figures, we are doing a better job than the Dog's atm. We have more members and at a higher price per head.
Point taken.
It was probably always going to be the way after finishing last the year before!
Will be really interesting to see what happens when they go on sale
