Ticketed Membership Breaks 3,000
12 Oct 2009

Rabbitohs Ticketed Membership has surpassed the 3,000 mark after the first two weeks of going on sale.

3,026 Members have committed to the Club in the best way possible by becoming a Ticketed Member. Over 4,600 Members in total have joined or renewed for the 2010 season as of 9am on Monday. The Rabbitohs have set a goal of having 10,000 Ticketed Members in 2010, and 17,500 Members in total.

Return to Redfern 2010 grandstand seating is also running out, with just over 200 seats still available.

The Return to Redfern 'Members Only' trial against the Sea Eagles on Sunday 7 February, is available only to 2010 Ticketed Members of the Club.

It’s not too late to sign up for 2010 Membership and for Ticketed Members to secure tickets to the Return to Redfern match.

The easiest way to renew or join is online by visiting www.rabbitohs.com.au and following the links to Membership. You also save money by renewing or joining online.

Alternatively, you can join or renew your Membership on the phone by calling 02 8306 9922 or in person at 104 George St in Redfern.

Current Members can also renew by sending in their renewal forms which were sent to all existing Members last week.

You would think that with the combination of a greater push from management, the success of the club in 2009 and the value for money of the tickets, the Bulldogs should by all rights overtake Souths as the Number 1 ticketed Sydney team in 2010.

The packages haven't been released yet, so we'll wait and see on the "value for money" bit.

I spoke to someone about the club about my membership.

They said majority of the packags will stay the same, in fact some will even probably come down in price!

AMAZING VALUE!!!!!!!!!!!

IM EXCITED FOR ANOTHER SEASON!

We might see a situation where the Rabbitohs are charging more for their GA Package than the Bulldogs are charging for their Reserved seat package!

EVEN THOUGH THEY PLAY AT THE SAME GROUND!

AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess you can offer that sort of value for money when you have a successful Leagues Club backing you up.

Membership's are one of our largest revenue streams and we don't have much else behind that which we can rely on to bring in the cash. Perhaps when or Leagues club gets up and running again, we will enjoy some lower Membership costs? Although I doubt it. More likely, is that the Dogs will have a few years of reeling in new members at cheap prices and then will probably slowly ramp up the membership rates. Time will tell I guess.

Either way, I'm happy that all clubs seem to be reeling in more and more members each year. Its great that clubs are focussing on this as a sustainable stream of revenue and moving away from poker machines. Now if only, the people running the game could realise how important members are to clubs and switch a few game times from tv friendly to more crowd friendly hours and days, memberships would really take off.

Look at teams like Canberra. It would suck to be a Raiders STH because almost all of their games are on Monday night. Outdoors at 7pm in Canberra, in the middle of winter is not somewhere where most people want to be.

I dont think thats the point!

The Point is that both our teams play in an 80,000 seat stadium.

Surley its better to have a slightly lower price - so we can fill as many seats as we can, which means more members which in turn will lead to more revenue.

Your point would be valid if it was a suburban ground, but at ANZ?????????

Its economies of scale though. Finding that point where you can maximise crowds and revenue. Souths had more members than the Dogs last year even at the higher price that we charged. If we were to drop prices by $5, $10, $20 per ticket, would we get a significantly higher boost in the number of memberships we sold? Maybe.... Would the increased ticket sales make up for the loss in revenue per ticket? Judging by the Dogs experience so far... No. Were Dogs crowds significantly larger than ours because of this lower membership? Not really.

While the Dogs had larger crowds than us, they were also in the 8 for most of the year. If the Doggies turn around this year and snare an extra 15 - 20k members then Souths will probably look at their strategy again, but I would say that based on all the figures, we are doing a better job than the Dog's atm. We have more members and at a higher price per head.

Point taken.

It was probably always going to be the way after finishing last the year before!

Will be really interesting to see what happens when they go on sale

I think the two clubs trade on and entirely different premise though. While most membership promotions are about pride, South Sydney have a special connection with fans which was realised in earnest during the 2000-01 sabbatical. While it's taken a while to get all those members on board, they were always within reach.

The story for the Bulldogs has been much different - while there's always been a decent-sized loyal core, it seems to be that there is a larger "outer core" that either don't know or care about being members and it's capturing those people that needs to be the aim. We were one of six teams that didn't have a single crowd figure below 10,000 this year, and one of only three in NSW (Saints and Knights being the other two).

While I think the 'Dogs can achieve the 10k membership mark in 2010, whether or not they do remains to be seen. I think waiting til late Oct/early Nov to release packages and details will do harm to their chances personally.

Two very different strategies and situations. We have an owner who doesn't want to fork out cash forever and has told the fans that. You guys had a poor year in 2008 and had to shake things up a bit. A good year in 2009 coupled with good value memberships should see a big increase this year. In saying that, if Souths had have finished top four last year, I reckon we'd have some big increases as well. Either way, it all looks promising for both clubs.

I just paid for my cows season tickets............just over a grand for a family ticket in the eastern stand on the 30m line.........and they wonder why our crowds/season ticket holder numbers are falling. It's gone up by about $100 from last year.
