Panthers logo for next season from this article.

Laughable.

Personally I am amazed people don't like it
It looks as infantile, amateur and pathetic as this

and everyone seems to love that
I always thought it was utter shite myself but most seem to love it

Yeah and they'd love this new Panther to if it was on a badge like the old one with the red, green and yellow rings changed to their new colours, because it would be just close enough to the old one to bring back all the good memories from the past glory days.

People are all the same, they all want things to be like they were in the good old days when things were best in their eyes and they don't like change.

I bet that a few years from now there will be young blokes who want the Panthers to go back to their current logo.

An article on smh today says all teams can wear one-off jerseys for the Auckland 9's

Looks like a big off season of jersey releases coming up!

Well their's another $200 (at least) of my hard earned that I may as well consider gone .

Something to look forward to after a very bad year :).

Wouldn't look too bad. Take away the stupid piping and sticky patches on the shoulders and chest obviously.

I'd prefer slightly longer sleeves that come down to about 3/4 the way to the elbow, just so you could put some striping and a sponsor on them.

I hope this is a way for clubs to put out their garbage designs and leave the real season for more traditional stuff in the future.

i think you're wishing for too much. given i think most teams have about 4 jerseys + a year you'd think they would use the one offs for "weird" designs, but instead they use it as just another excuse to design weird things.

I've always thought from a "brand" (which is the f**king buzzword) perspective you keep things similar once you've established the brand rather than constantly f**k with things. I'd be happy for teams to stick to a home jersey and if they want to experiment do it for 7's, WiL, etc

I always feel like an arsehole using the word "brand" but its the correct term in these cases. You can establish a basic look for a club and alter the look slightly over time. You keep this look basic so that there is room for change. Some clubs will be able to make changes more easily than others since that base design is more flexible.

Clubs really should be leaving the cash grab designs for the pre-season, and maybe one jersey in the regular season; I'm tired of every round having at least one team wearing something wacky.

That's what the English Premier League football clubs do.

The home shirt changes very little from year - the variety is with the change in sponsor or manufacturer template.

I know I'm talking about soccer.. but I think that's the sort of result you're after - keeping the home jersey as a pretty-much set design, with minor variation from season-to-season.
