terrible crowd but has become par for the course. Gave up watching with 30mins to go, like watching paint dry with no atmosphere and Melbourne with origin hang over.

Yeah haven't seen Melbourne play this bad in years..Also had an extremely hard time spotting a Storm supporter there too...

8.2k

which is good. Its about 8.2k more than those suggesting that only 13 people were there

Yeah crowd wasn't good but pretty consistent with what we've had so far this year...

I'm not really into stats or what the averages say so far, besides a few games I think the crowds have gone backwards this year...

To me it seems like the average game has less people this year...

I heard a reporter from Channel 9 this morning claim the crowd for the Chelsea game this week will be 84000 and that this will be the biggest crowd at ANZ since the Olympics. This is the level of moronic reporting we deal with week by week. Journalists in the 21st century, barring a notable few, are the new Nuffies!

How does smith and g burg feel on Friday nights when they leave work at Moore park and see 32,000 people going to afl wearing swans colors etc on a cold Friday night against a Melbourne team.

And then front up to NRL on Tuesday morning and see that 8000 show up for their game that is supposed to be a rival to the afl

Surely you would be pulling out all strategies to ensure this crap doesn't happen

And what would these strategies be. Drag people out of their homes on Monday night and tell them to watch a post Origin Monday night game or else?

Personally if i was drawing a 500k plus salary i would find my position un-tenable if i was to deliver that kind of image that tonight's game displayed...

NRL has to realise that the roosters are actually a key market for RL... you cannot be happy basically being the 4th best supported side in the eastern suburbs,..

Do we realise that most of the major corporations CEO's and media commentators live in eastern suburbs.

if you are 4th in this market behind swans, sydney fc, waratahs, when you have been in the area 70 years longer than all the other teams you obviously have an issue...

Spend some of the marketing $$, hire some NFL / EPL activation experts, hire some PR managers, put f**king U2 on before the game if you have to, just don't put games on with 80% empty seats..

Yes because the crowd on a Monday night against an out of town team is literally the only barometer with which to gauge support of a club.

Monday night these days are effectively for TV ratings only unfortunately sure everyone would rather another sat or Sunday game but broadcasters control it

And where does the roosters responsibility lie?

Only ever hear Sydney clubs complaining it's the NRL's fault for their poor crowds, if there was a magic wand the NRL could wave to fix crowds in Sydney don't you think they would use it?

Sure Monday nights are a wasteland for crowds but getting rid of them won't help clubs in their demand for more money. How many more people do you think would have turned up to the roosters game against the storm on a Sunday afternoon?

You cant blame MNF for this crowd. Team 6 v team 1 going into the round and a win to the home team puts them into 5th.

Being at the ground I'd say the 3 degree weather (with wind chill) and $60 cat 1 tickets were probably the biggest hindrance.

Honestly I doubt we get any walk ups at all with how much they are charging for tickets. Season ticket is the only thing that makes it good value

The roosters responsibility lies with how much they are overcharging for tickets. It is insane how much they make people pay considering how poor our crowds have been this year

The problem is those other three clubs have larger catchments, so to speak, have higher average crowds, a better ambiance and are thus more likely to attract the casual and floating fans. I honestly don't think it is much more complicated than this.

Keep believing it. Rates like nothing before on a Wednesday, it won't be moving and good. We don't need stand alone weekends, we tried it, everyone gets bored and a couple of rubbish fill in games won't change that. I enjoyed watching my side this weekend despite having a few out.

not everyone. most people can find something else to do

With the additional revenue the game will likely receive over the next few years I would like them to set a flat rate ticket price for all Sydney clubs on the condition clubs receive additional grant revenue, we need to just get people going to games regularly again and earn price increases slowly, the demand isn't there ATM to charge what they are. Although, those that buy memberships do get tickets very cheap but not everyone is ready to outlay that kind of commitment.
