So how did the ARL expand the national comp to 20 teams, grow senior player numbers nationally to record highs and run massively successful mid-season Test series - all significant things the current "business" is incapable of doing - all with a tiny percentage of what the "business" has now?

Only the most geniused mouth breather would actually try to frame this argument as lots of money versus absolutely zero money. The game has always had money. It has never had so much as now. But it has spent its money, no matter how little, and achieved better outcomes at virtually any other point in history, especially on a per dollar basis.

And finally you don't present anything except every possible symptom for serious brain damage.

20 teams with the lowest quality competition we've ever had lol
There were about 50 players of reserve grade ability running around in first grade just to make up the numbers , our game was not ready for expansion , half the existing clubs didn't want 4 new ones , they weren't listened to & the seeds of the super league war we're sown. We all know how that turned out.

So great example dumbo lol

No it was only scum clubs like Canberra that f**ked the sport over for Murdoch's cash, not the ARL.

Now we've got more merkins f**king the game for cash. They're called the NRL.

What SL proved is that if you put money ahead of the game it is a disaster. "Business". Well done circle. One of your best.

No
The arrogant sydneycentric ARL f**ked the game you clown. The Raiders said to them in 1994 we'll find & develop talent ( and they had been doing this for a decade prior) but we don't want cashed up Sydney clubs pinching our players like they were threatening to , so we need our development work protected . The ARLs response

Meh .. that's just tough luck if they have more money then you , we won't help you.

Yeah , real bastions of the game weren't they dumb dumb lol

TBH I am as big a raiders fan as any but this is a bit ridiculous.

The NSWRL / ARL expanded their competition to
- Canberra
- Newcastle
- Illawarra
- Brisbane / south east queensland
- North Queensland
- Auckland
- Perth

No other rugby league comp was interested in expansion, not the BRL or the auckland rl or anyone.

The only expansion the super league did was melbourne, but perth had to go pave the way for that... and the hunter I suppose, if you count that. Talking about China doesnt really count.

Their is a lot of truth to the clubs having to much power and getting in the way of doing what is good for the game, especially now that their is essentially a club man in charge.

You mean the Canberra side that was breaching the salary cap and signing players from all over the place? I bet Canberra fans are over the moon they get to develop and keep all their players now eh?

f**king lol. That worked out well.

I see you've been drinking the kool aid for years you oxygen thief. No wonder you blow your load at anything the PR department at NRLHQ come up with.

And Sydney-centric? They expanded the comp to Perth, North Qld and NZ. No chance of that now.

Talking of which

Season Avg
2012 16,423
2013 15,940
2014 15,905
2015 15,074

Current crowd Avg
16,516 *
*(includes double headers)

Not sure how the fixtures are in terms of Broncos home games and big Sydney clashes for rest of season but if we can hold the avg then it will be a small but positive increase after 4 years of decline

They breached the cap because Sydney sides were circling our side & threatening to dismantle it with superior $$ you NFI clown.
And where else were they going to expand to

Sydney ?
They were quite happy to bring in sides from outside Sydney
But even happier to have Sydney clubs gain from hard working development focused clubs like the Raiders & do nothing when Sydney clubs Threatened to steal our players.
So the Raiders had to protect themselves
The rest is History.
The only downside in hindsight was getting into bed with The soulless scum News Ltd.

But the game had to change
And change it has

70 year old , old farts like you who think sliced bread is the devils spawn & wash your clothes on a wash board in a tub in the back yard while listening to the wireless , need to shut the f**k up ... You're stuck in yester year , last week , yesterday.
No one cares what you think.

Lol. You've been shot down by your own. Now you're just dribbling even greater nonsense than usual. If that's possible.

"Wah wah shut up you're old"

Even though I'm not. You're confusing old with knowledgable. You'll be one of those one day...

Knights (barely) and the panthers will be the only 5 figure crowds this week.

Have said it all year, the average will be down on last year and continue to go down in the years to come, while the NRL maintains its stance of least fan friendly sport on the planet.

They need a quick tick-a-box list to help the circle get their shit crowd excuses in more efficiently and allow them to spend more time looking at their Davey Smith posters and mixing their NRL supplied kool aid.

Something like:

Players out:white_check_mark:
Cold :white_check_mark:
Hot :white_check_mark:
Wet :white_check_mark:
Other stuff on :white_check_mark:
Playing the Titans :white_check_mark:
Full moon:white_check_mark:
Day with an S in it :white_check_mark:

Etc.

Quick and easy.

I would argue australia and new zealand can support 20 or even 22 pro RL teams now, but not in the current closed league format. Two divisions with promotion and relegation between them gives both more areas professional representation and also makes the top of the NRL more elite.

8,256 at Kogarah Oval tonight.

I know that any Sydney team that plays the Titans aren't going to get a big crowd, but wishful thinking that the Dragons would at least crack the 10k mark.

A poor figure for a Friday night game after an Origin game. I was at the game tonight, and could hear everyone's conversation on the hill... it was that dead and lacked atmosphere!! Poor effort from us Saints fans
