2016 Crowd Watch

My understanding is it's not counted in home crowd averages at all because there's no realistic way to divide the gate.

You're also kidding yourself if you think there are people who only turn up and stay for one game.

But why should you divide the gate? That's my whole point, the majority of the crowd will be there for both games, everybody will be there for at least a portion of both, ergo both games should be counted as crowds of (in theory) 52,500, not two of 26,250.

Besides if counted it will give a big boost to the yearly averages which we all as NRL fans should be happy with!

It is always going to be hard for us to get above that 17K mark. I still expected it to be more full but also Friday nights are a nightmare to get to......particularly with traffic. Play the game on a Sunday afternoon at 2pm and it would be packed.

The applause for Peats was great at the ground but the rest of the atmosphere seemed a bit flat, I was expecting something different I guess.

there didnt appear to be a lot of tickets left yesterday, just one side on ga, the other sold out plus a few seats on the side. Probably ticketed members not being able to make it. this will change with the new stadium. I've been to parra a few times and they just don't deal well with walk ups at all.

Souths and Parra got 27k in 1986 at Parra Stadium.

Now 16k is a great crowd.

You being serious?

The ground had 2 massive hills allowing for walkups and it was the golden years, hard to compare it like that.

Was that 27k crowd on the friday or Weekend?

Obviously the ground has been reconfigured since it opened in 1986 because 20,000 is capacity these days. Maybe they'd squeeze more in, but not safely.

Not to mention Parramatta had a champion team in those times. A team that make the current cheated up team look like a park team.

There was also the fact that 1986 was the first year the stadium opened so people would have been coming to check it out.

It was probably the first time many Parra supporters had sat on a chair

Excellent that Suncorp is a sell-out it pretty much had no excuse considering there are 3 top 4 teams on display. To think it's going on the same time as the Lions who are going to get squashed crowd wise.

I'm not advocating dividing the gate at all. I'm just pointing out the methodology is flawed no matter which way you do it. As I said I'm actually a fan of leaving it out all together.

Triple M reported today that last nights crowd attendance wasn't as high as expected because some Parramatta Eels fans boycotted the game after hearing the news on Nathan Peats leaving the club.

So those "fans" would rather play for no points?

Well Channel 9 before the game last night mentioned 3 times during the news from the start that the game was a sell out, I wonder if that helped stop people bothering to go, good 1 channel 9, is there a single f**king thing you can get right with Rugby League?

Yeh looks packed. Any reason we haven't had a game there since 2010? How long has that stadium been open? Is it a temp ground, changing rooms were in a shed.

Parra crowd was Ho hum considering you would have hoped for a bit of a rallying response from parra fans and that we had Two of the three best supported clubs in sydney playing. Hopefully the new stadiums will include reciprocal membership admission across all three stadiums.

A false average.
