2017 Finals Wk2 - Eels v Cowboys (GAME DAY THREAD)

They cover for Scott by giving more minutes and more runs to Taumalolo and Hess. They cover for Thurston by giving more ball to established Origin player Morgan, and bring in TMM to play second fiddle.

That's much better than having to rely on Smith due to the absence of Gutherson and French. I thought we covered for Moeroa was pretty easy (though we would've been f**ked if we'd lost Ma'u, Edwards or an outside back) but losing Alvaro after five minutes absolutely killed us in the second half.

You make a good point on Hess and TMM Pou Bear. I actually think those two things have rejuvenated the Cowboys season. Moving Hess into the middle and putting Lowe back on the edge and buying a competent player to partner Morgan in the halves.

On the otherside I'd suggest if French was Fullback that Asiata would still have scored and I doubt French would've put himself in the line like Smith did to take the kick. It's swings and roundabouts with some players.

f**k me, I leave the other thread cause the trolling was so f**king poor, and I get this second rate apprentice f**kstick's understudy.

Do yourself a favour mate, and stick your head in a blender.

And not the head on your shoulders....

It's pointless talking about who was out without looking at who they had available. Four current Origin reps plus Jason Taumalolo still took the field. The Cowboys obviously spend a lot more on players than we do.

Those 'long term' reps they had out are well into their 30s. They are both becoming liabilities in defence that the Cowboys didn't have to cover last night. Their greatest contributuion is experience and leadership, but the Cows are flush with that anyway - only two finals debutantes (Martin and Jensen) plus 12 premiership winners played for them last night.

FMD Pou Bear, now you are just pissing in the wind saying that the Cowboys two injured Captains are just liabilities..

Only in defence. They don't seem to be missing them anyway.

Thurston has been a liability in defence his entire career. They would've missed both players had they been injured the week before the finals. The fact they've had 23 Premiership rounds to work out how to cover for Scott and more than half a season how to cover for Thurston means that they can win without them now.

Hey, we need those fairweather fans.
Without them we don't get close to 40,000 people to that game last night.
We can't expect everyone to be Eels-mad like us. Having some people tag along only when we are winning is just life for every sporting club.

Yep this fair-weather fan who is a season ticket holder and has been for like 15 years and rarely misses a game will just stop being a season ticket holder because i don't stay to the end of the game.

When they ring me and ask me why i haven't renewed i will tell them that some guy from Canberra on an internet forum said i am just a shit supporter so i took his advice.........i'm sure they'll be happy to lose the business cause you know, the guy from the internet forum said so........

I am still pretty pissed off about last night and it was an unacceptable performance but i will renew my season ticket, actually 2 cause i buy 2 seats just in case someone i know wants to come and support the team, you know cause i am a fair-weather supporter and all because i happen to leave a game when my team plays like shit and the final nail has been put in the coffin........

I may have been angry last night and said something that was in the heat of the moment but some of you need to grow up too......life is f**king busy and there are plenty of reasons not to waste your time at a game once it is over.

I personally drive someone home who doesn't live anywhere near me (who paid for my ticket last night, thanks @ash411) and the car trip was quite unpleasant thanks to my foul mood but generally i just want to get home cause i'm old and cranky and want to get to bed and hope i can wake up in a better mood........don't tell me i'm a shit fan cause i left a game early! We can't all be as perfect as some.

Lol

Maybe you need a few more days to chill out...maybe a cuppa?

I'll tell you what I think about fans who leave early. Well, I mean, I did. Don't tell me what I can't tell you I guess is the point. You want to leave early, no skin off my nose, but don't get shirty when people judge you for it.

I guess it's easy to criticise when you just have to leave your TV on to end a game........

Oooh, catty.

I guess it's easy to criticise when you only have to go 25km to the game and are medically able to drive....

No criticism, you don't have to go to games, I don't give a shit but when you sit there and criticise fans that pay for membership and season tickets for leaving a game early I can point it out.

Go for it. It seems a theme amongst a couple on here to criticise me for having the audacity to be stuck in a shitty town in a situation where I can't get to many or any games. Personally I think it's bartman-esque straw clutching...which is probably because he was the one who started it. Which, you know, HILARIOUS given he won't travel 10km to ANZ stadium because he doesn't like the seats...
