F*ck me, Leichhardt is a shit ground. It should be a training oval and 1/2 memorial matches a year at best...

A stadium with a top limit of under 17k is just unacceptable for any self-respecting top-flight sport.

......for any self-respecting top-flight sport

You are confusing the nrl for a sport that gives a sht about attendances. Everyone’s got their pocket full of gold, they’re all happy. f**k the fans.

Cairns
Hot shower
No f**ker shows up

Red line through another hick bush town.

It’s amazing how sht sports facilities are in Australia. Cairns has a pop of 139k, that’s a shed load more than St. Helens, Wigan, Doncaster, widnes etc yet look at the quality of the venues these much smaller cities have.

I'm not so sure this game would bet a bigger crowd anywhere else.
Maybe
But they could get a lot more income almost anywhere else
I've said plenty of times, we need to stop getting obsessed with the look of a small venue when it's full
It's not the future

Because we live in a country where the mere suggestion of making the stadiums better gets 9 months of media beat up articles about "muh hospitals, muh schools", implying that the tiny percentage of money spent making Australian stadiums better would in anyway impact the ability to open hospitals and/or schools.

True, listening to the old farts oncontroversy corner waffling on about nsw stadium spending and how they should give Leichhardt $50million instead was painful, mind you the whole show was painful full stop and not to be repeated.

16 984 at Leichhardt. I have been there for 20,000 plus. Guess it’s the safety isles on the hill?

Had dinner out with a mate tonight who was at the game and has been going to Leichhardt for many many years and he still reckons the crowd today was very close to the 20,000 mark.

Facility wise Leichhardt is crap, as for a ground to view the football up close and personal Leichhardt is tops.

And what would have the Tigpies vs The Tits got out at ANZ ? Possibly 6-7 thousand, Leichhardt while far from perfect still has a place in the NRL, and it seems to be a ground where people are happy to put up with a bit of discomfort to watch a game.

It annoys me that Sydney teams are expected to be the ones to 'grow the game' by taking games to places like Cairns.

Correct me if I a wrong, but aren't the cowboys from North Queensland and a quick look at the map tells me that Cairns is in North Queensland. There is no reason why they can't be taking a game or 2 to Cairns a season.

Same for the Warriors, they are the ones who should be taking a game or 2 to the likes of Wellington/Christchurch every year as they are the 'New Zealand' warriors.

Sydney teams should be taking games to country NSW and/or non NSW venues where there is no local team.
