12167 at AAMI. Not terrible for a Thursday night in the Origin period.

Compares favourably to a number of recent Sydney crowds in far better timeslots...

Agree.

Looked dire before kick-off (my first game at MRS), but they really filled in quickly.

Was never gonna be much better or worse than 12k. Thursday night, star players out....this is where fixturing fails. I know no-one has a crystal ball, but this was a top of the tableclash and it was played at just about the worst time of the season

Cracking game tho

Scheduled against a AFL TV game(which was in Sydney) also didn't help.

Seems silly to play a Storm game one of the few Thursday nights that AFL is on, from a TV ratings and crowd perspective.

Sydney siders won't go out on a Thursday night
Not true 35,000 were at the SCG for the Swans game
NRL has turned itself into a TV game and forgotten about crowds and atmosphere
The TV money is easy you dont have to work hard to get it so the NRL dont give a stuff about the diehard fans.
Let them eat cake comes to mind!

Yeh Hindmarsh in that rain would have been great fun for the 6000 that would have gone!

yeah i get it... Adelaide oval is a world class stadium, facilities, close to city, covered up etc but RL would be so much better to watch at Hindmarsh....right on top of the play...u feel so far away at AO.
But I guess in the end you have to play it at AO.

Noticed over 5000 attending a "shit" shield union game in Pittwater this arvo. A local derby between Manly and Warringah. Astoundingly rugby league has lost its local derby in the northern part of Sydney (North Sydney v Manly Warringah )Shame on the administrators of the NRL and the advocates of diluting rugby league in Australis largest city ! Over 1million people in northern Sydney with just one top flight rugby league club to follow? Amazing inneptness.
