Back when they had the 2 Friday nights games on at the same time they replayed the other after the first game but condensed the game. Took all the fluff like stoppages, interviews etc our. The first game needs to start at a family friendly time of 630 (on the dot) and the other game starting at 745. Now obviously the first game ending will cut into the second but does anything important happen in the first 15mins?? The broadcast of the second game will still show the kick off and football play but cut out the stoppages etc until they get back to live play. Gezzz we might miss out on some betting ads too. And if by chance anything amazing happens in the first 15mins (yes people at the ground may Twitter/Facebook/instagram it) but we will being seeing it in the next 10mins any way. This allows the young, families to watch the early game and get home and also allows the others a game that doesn’t finish at 10. And if you are watching from home you could barely tell the difference anyway.

Ok. Thought my last

For a start. You have conceded to a figure over the 32500 you assert! I was at the ground and another few thousand could have fitted in. We were on the western south corner and it was very roomy with plenty of vacant seats around us and on the opposite western corner. That is not jam packed! A few times chief Harrigan has mentioned the 35000 capacity and plans to go to 40000. When I purchase my tickets for the Friday 6pm March 9th game I will quiz the Knights shop staff which is at the ground. I'm sure they will refer me to more accurate information for someone like you.

A quick google search says it holds 33000 at Newcastle.

Given FOX have made a dedicated channel for the code I don't think they'd be keen for that. Doesn't make sense to put games on separate channels if the overlap is a matter of minutes.

I agree somewhat but don’t forget they are recieving an extra 7 games of ad/sponsorship revenue due to a tweak in the game from 2018. It’s like a slightly delayed take off from a airline company. They end up making the time up in the air and land at the same time.

If the changes were made. Saturday for example looks like the times for fox are 2pm, 430pm and 630pm. 2.5 hrs between game time and then 2hrs. If the first game went to golden point there is still plenty of time till the next game. If the second game went golden point the 3rd game could at worst start at 7. Hardly think the broadcaster would have issue with it considering it would bring 7 extra games of revenue in there pockets.

TV channels don't seem to have a problem with AFL games overlapping? Yet another TV issue we sold cheaply.

Exactly... with the Nrl the closest competition in the world, over lapping the first 10/15 mins of a game but catching up and being live for at the least the second half is hardly a issue. Could cause fans of the teams to attend more games if the start is delayed. The tv viewers will barely notice the difference.

For someone like Fox it also doesn't matter if games are simulcast on red button. End of day they are after subscribers not individual viewers for each event. If 500k people are watching NRL on Fox it doesn't matter to them if its 500k watching one game or 250k watching two games, they are getting the same revenue from 500k subscribers.

I only propose this for Friday night games when time is tight (630-10). Saturday there is plenty of time for all 3 games to be played and is a non issue.

I don't get why Newcastle or Canberra or Wollongong etc .. havent jumped on board and just said give us all the 6pm Friday games u can ..

We will have a crack at them ..

It could work in regional stadiums

I’m sorry but this is ridiculous.

There are a really high amount of Knights fans that live in Sydney (myself included) that are still season ticket holders because with games being on the weekend we’re easily able to still travel up and attend home games.

We can’t attend 6pm on a Friday. Neither can anyone in northern NSW (another huge supporter area for the Knights) and neither can any opposition fans coming from Sydney.

And you think it’s a good idea to pack them with 6pm Friday games that only people in Newcastle could attend? I certainly don’t - and neither would the thousands of Knights fans and season ticket holders living out of Newcastle.

Whoever said the Friday 6pm slot is aids is on the money. No other way about it.

The Knights have an amazing supporter base. They shouldn’t be punished with time slots that make it impossible for a large amount of their supporters or any opposition fans to attend just because they’ll still get a decent crowd on whatever shit time slot is thrown their way.

I’m a season ticket holder and was really excited for round 1 but I can’t attend - neither can any of my mates in the same position.

See what crowd turns up!? Things like weather are a factor. . Ticket pricing is a concern . I noted any seating has an initial cost of $39 a ticket if you are not a member? Bit rich! The 6pm timeslot whilst daylight savings is about will gain a big turn out from young families. Interesting to see the attendance for this game I suggest. I don't like the seated pricing and I think the general hill admission is a bit high as well at $26 . Think that should be $20.

Should have made it 6:30pm every Friday night at Allianz. Paid clubs to have their games there and let the NRL promote and push tickets and offers. Get the city mob into the habit of attending a Friday early evening from work. Either that or played 90% of them in NZ with nrl supporting more games in Dunedin, Wellington, Christchurch etc.

NRL have created this mess so they should put their hands in their pockets and get out of the box to sort it out. Not just lump it on clubs to the detriment of them and the fans.

Some good thoughts PR. Still think it's better than Thursday night!

Did you read my post? I don’t think you did because your reply had literally nothing to do with what you’ve quoted.

I was saying that 6pm Friday is a stupid slot because no knights fans/season ticket holders living in Sydney or Northern NSW can attend - I am one of the people in this position. Neither can any opposition fans from Sydney.

Ticket pricing is another issue entirely and will be the same regardless of whether the game is at 6pm on Friday or 2pm Sunday.

I did read your post and you have discounted the timeframe that suits attendance by young families. Their is some give and take here. Granted the long journey fan travellers have an issue however the local young families have an attractive timeslot. Like I said see what sort of crowd turns up.
