2018 Crowd Watch

These are 2 foundation clubs and are our oldest rivarly. This should be a huge match every time. Thursday night isn't ideal but it's a copout to suggest that's the only reason this games crowd will struggle so much.

When the wanderers are facing Sydney FC you have it plastered everywhere telling you how big of a rivalry it is. That's why it gets such a good crowd each time.

Meanwhile this rabbits v roosters match is going by with barely a mention. It's treated like any other match when it should be close to if not the biggest regular season game of the year.

At this point I think even 20K seems uncertain which is disgraceful.
I agree that using the Thursday night excuse is a cop out. It’s early in the season so neither team can use form as an excuse as Souths are only a game behind us. The game is being played at the boundary between each teams traditional heartland. I don’t think the fact that it’s late on a Thursday school night is as much of a factor considering Friday is the last day of term. Every westfields in Sydney is packed till 9pm every Thursday night and people are happy to fight the traffic getting out but it’s all too hard when it’s a sporting event. If people really want to go they’ll find a way. The complete lack of buildup doesn’t help either. How is it that these 2 clubs can draw 60000 in 2013 yet are looking at getting 15000 at best only a few years later. Yes the scheduling should be better but if the nrl are serious about building support it should be irrelevant. European soccer , nfl etc etc play at all hours in all conditions and still manage to pack stadia with passionate fans. The nrl exists in spite of its management.

So this week,

The Gong and NZ to approach sell outs? Or at least 20,000 in NZ.

Penrith to draw a good crowd.

The rest to be average?

Brookvale might sell out? With a large contingent of tigers supporters help.

Although i don’t even know what a Brookie sell out is these days lol, maybe 15k max?

I've been to enough grounds to work out I hate ANZ. It's just a terrible match experience. Rather attend another game as a neural at a stadium that is nice and gives me a good match day experience. ANZ just doesn'tYou couldn't pay me enough to voluntarily attend a regular match at ANZ.
Yeah we get it
You moan about the place at every given opportunity
I've been there many, many times &
It isn't anywhere near as bad as you make out
It ain't perfect by any stretch
But you're carrying on a bit

Kilometres - ahhh, my bad
The Sydney area covers 12,368 square kilometres
Or 4,775 square miles

So slightly more than 50 square kilometres
Apologies, I was blinded by the stupidity of your original post.
I will try harder next time

Please do

Have ground capacities really changed that much? Or did they just lie in the past?

Brookie is about 6000 smaller.
Kogarah had a huge new grandstand and concourse built where previously there was next to nothing, and has dropped about 3000.
Shark park has a new grandstand at one end where there was basically a flat track hill...seems to have dropped 3000.

They used to let people cram in on the hill like sardines. Now they've reduced capacity on hills for comfort and safety

Isn’t t perfect well that’s for sure. I actually try and attend a neutral game most weeks, whether that be at the SFS, Penrith, Cronulla, etc. I didn’t last week as I had family commitments but you could never pay me enough to go to ANZ. A lot of things would have to change.

- Ease of getting there- it is a nightmare. Shouldn’t have to change trains/pay extortion for parking.
- mid strength beer. Like it or not most of us like a drink. I’ve gone without a beer but there should be the option there.
- Food- more variety needed.

Only shit crowd was the parra one. Titans could have used a bigger venue but the rest were fine. It's great to see Newcastle cracking 20k and the Warriors selling out the joint.

Question for cows fans what happened to the Cowboys attendance? Used to get 20k when they were absolute shithouse. I don't get it. Is it scheduling?
