Does anyone here know if we have a chance to get Andrew Forrest involved in RL? I know he is up to his elbows with Rugby, but is there a chance that one of the bright sparks at the NRL can somehow get the man involved in WARL. I think it would be an awesome outcome for the game if someone of his wealth and passion got behind the NRL.

His daughter is good mates with Rusty and Rusty is also good mates with him, surely there can be some positive synergies there?

We’ve got two multi millionaires in Perth waiting to back a nrl club. Forrest is a union man, he won’t be interested in league.

Rated better than most super15 and Aleague games on Fox!

Awful ratings for the union. I don't understand how any network can justify the money being given to the a league and super rugby. Women's AFL, NRL and crickey all rate higher and have far more room for growth.

I don't see how they can keep throwing 100s of millions for those sports and not offer more money for the women's game.

Also we need to expand the women's comp. So much potential.

I know, fox paid Aleague $346mill for 6 years! Considering they rarely break 50k viewers it seems excessive. I guess fox probably think they won’t get new subscribers for nrlw as it will be mostly be existing nrl subscribers watching it.

As you say most games are lucky to crack 50K, how many subscribers can they really be getting? I know they struggle for content in the off season but pretty much anything can rate that well. It doesn't justify that sort of money.

I disagree that it'll just be NRL fans watching NRLW. The women's sports have been better at engaging the female viewership (for adults and kids). The dragons broncs game today was the first full game of rugby league my wife has ever watched.

Great result for the season viewing

Television ratings for the NRL season have eclipsed the AFL’s audiences for the first time since 2010, reflecting the closeness of games in the rugby league competition compared to AFL, where the frequency of one-sided matches continued with last weekend’s three semi-final blow-outs.

The NRL’s cumulative audience this season was 94.3 million, compared to the AFL’s live audience of 89.2m. This excludes State of Origin figures. If the data for those three games are added, rugby league’s audience for the 2018 season was more than 105m.

The average free-to-air audience for the NRL was 600,181 in 2018, compared to 307,793 for the AFL (down 13 per cent on 2017), acknowledging that the AFL has cross-over timeslots and doesn’t go free to air with the same games nationally.

The average subscription TV audience (Foxtel) for the NRL was 240,879 in 2018 (up 3 per cent on 2017), compared to 184,821 for the AFL (down 7 per cent on 2017).

So If i'm reading this correctly the AFL's finals ratings on Fox is almost double their season average (that's 100% increase) but the NRL's finals ratings only increase maybe 25%? looks dodgy....

I know heaps of people who have already closed their account for the summer. I'd be curious if AFL fans have the same hate for their panel shows as RL fans do

Total 1.16mill

Pretty disappointing Sydney audience, that’s where we are losing to afl in these finals ratings. They had 250k more viewers in Melbourne than nrl in Sydney.
