It helps, but the point I was making is we aren’t experienced enough to compete at the top.

If look at our experience for the likely top 17

Edwards
Mansour
Naden
Whare
To’o
Luai
Cleary
Tamou
Api
JFH
Kikau
Martin
Yeo

May
Tetevano
Capewell
Leota

It isn’t that bad. If it wasn’t for having better inexperienced options that would stand up against most sides.

We have been this way for a few seasons. Given 12 off contract it is one thing that can be fixed

I think Billy Burns at centre for Naden.
Although Naden can sniff out a try, Burns can also. A centre needs to also be able to pass and defend & Burns does it extremely well.

Naden to wing

That would be my perfect side just posting what I expect to see

Not sure it's a dilemma though as @betcats said during the trial Ivan all but said Luai will be the utility with May unavailable but May is absolutely the 14 with his versitilaty.

Each team's selection dilemma heading into round 1

"Penrith - bench utility. With Tyrone May suspended for the first four rounds, coach Ivan Cleary must choose between Matt Burton or impressive rookie Brendan Hands for the bench utility role."

Not a hard choice... Hands can’t play

If Luai is actually Korisau cover then he is the 14 not 6. Just make it easy and start Burton at 6 if that's the case.

Mary was the genius who forged a plan to completely change his spine midway through a game in 2019. Dufty to 1, Widdop 6, Norman 7, Hunt 9, Mcinness 13...completely pea brained. Our version wouldn't be as extreme but don't f**k around with the spine unless it's totally necessary.

Very important too when we consider age/inexperience within the team and especially our spine. Give them a role and keep it simple.

It’s amazing how far off the money some of these articles are.

Researching for articles is hard ok :joy:

Yeah mid game positional changes is ridiculous.

Burton should be the 14 to start the season keep Luai at 6 , if he struggles early on then bring Burton into the 6

Burton is mostly a half though who you could develop into another position with time so having him at 14 wouldn't make sense Vs Luai who can play hooker, centre or fullback as a fill in.

I think its fine, but not in the halves unless there is an injury or send off.
Forwards do it all the time, JFH is switching often from Prop to Lock or 2nd row, or vice versa, dependant on whos blown out, or who needs to come on Yeo does too, its ok for it to change, make the players more fluid, not ridgid in their roles, waqa blake is a perfect example of ridgid, just a centre, wont look for the ball waits for work to come his way

100%. In the spine positions you want more stability is all. You want your 14 filling in at hooker due to the high work rate of the 9 or filling in for HIA/Injuries. I just think that suits Luai more than Burton.

Ridiculous when they are unforced yes. Somehow I see Burton playing 14 and coming on when things don't work out with Luai. I can't really see Korisau playing less than 80 minutes as he is the most experienced player in our spine.

Yeah. The way I see it is that it was mentioned we are the most inexperienced team so to negate that disadvantage as much as possible they'll need good chemistry and combinations.
