4 crowds announced
Melb 13,269
Kogarah 10,057
Shark Park 11,500 odd ?
Townsville 13,864

2 yet to be announced
SCG
Cbus

hopefully 20K plus in newy today & I don't hold out much hope for a decent crowd at homebush
10K would be a pretty good result
1999 crowds apart from Melbourne

Why can't we have at least 8 teams that pull a crowd like Newcastle in a stadium like Newcastle...can we ?
Only the Broncos do without success attached as a requirement ,
Other clubs have venues that comfortably hold that many & can draw crowds that big when everything is aligned, time ,weather , opponent & how they're going at the time
Melb
Souths
Roosters
Bulldogs
Parra
Tigers @ homebush & against Parra @ commbank
Cows against Broncos
Titans against Broncos
Warriors
Penrith @ their new venue from 2025

Raiders would need to be top 4 & playing another top 4 side but could do it

We have a few clubs that simply can't even if they wanted to
Dragons , not at Kogarah & WIN holds that many ( just) but has never drawn 20K let alone 23K
Manly certainly not atm & their new joint will only hold 20K so never for them
Sharks .. hmmmmmm, my mum always said when you have nothing nice to say , say nothing at all.

looking at the above we have a situation where we have our stadium situation about 75% right , some work to do

But our attitude to attending games about 25% right , heaps of work to do.

Accor 13,453

still waiting on the SCG & Cbus ( guessing about 15K ish , for both)

115K will pull the round up
nothing flash , but not dreadful either.

so I am wondering if the pandemic is going to be a net negative or positive for crowds

Negatives - people more likely to stay home due to being sick and/or not wanting to catch covid
Positives - a lot of people aren't making a gruelling commute everyday so a bit of travel to a footy game is not such a pain. Also timeslots like thursday and early Friday might not be such a bad factor

It seems mixed so far.

A few potential sellouts to come over the next fortnight should tell more of a story

I think it more that people have gotten out of the habit of going. My dad (in his 70s), for example, hasn't been to any sporting events in two years. He simply won't go again - now he says he prefers to watch on TV or listen on the radio. After so long, he simply thinks making his way into the city is not worth it.

I get this sentiment. I love my job, and my teams in each city, but my colleagues can get f*cked if they think that I’ll be going into the office more than one day a week ha!

As soon as I move back to brisbane I will be buying a suncorp membership though.

A lot of people are being forced to go back into the office. And with the price of everything going up, I know lots of people who are making adjustments to budgets just trying to cope. Things like going to the footy become a bit of a luxury given how much a day out costs. They will still go, just maybe instead of 3-4 games a season, go to one. You're really hoping those in their 20's make the effort.

People are more selective about the sporting events they attend due to COVID I'm finding.
AFL crowds were down on their usual standard too. Fans are acclimatised to watching at home these days!

All sports are going to have to get creative in enticing people back to stadiums and back into the groove of attending games. Having said that some clubs in both codes seem to be having lessor problems than others

The rain that is forecast to set in Friday Saturday and Sunday in brisbane will drag the crowd down. They have also released level 7 east seats at $120 a pop plus fees which is insane.

With this in mind I think the crowd will be 37-40k. It’s already sold past the Rabbitohs crowd, but it will be interesting to see how many corporates show.
