Penrith and Cronulla's selfishness shows what's wrong with RL. Didn't even play finals at suburban grounds back in the old days, they were all at the SCG.

THERE'S NO NOSTALGIA HERE, IT NEVER HAPPENED IN THE OLD DAYS... ALL WE ARE DOING IS MOVING BACKWARDS
Why should they give up their home final advantage.
I would MUCH rather miss out on tickets to a smaller stadium if it improves our chances to win compared to taking it to a half empty stadium we’ve never played in before.

Not sure how many fans would want option 2?
Maybe they are the selfish ones if they do

The 20k in 1909 actually attended a game between the Wallabies and Kangaroos using different rules in each half

It was a major turning point in making league the premier sport. Even the SMH had to say that the “Northern Rules” made the game more exciting.

I remember the days where every finals game was at the SFS, no one complained and you had a number of neutral fans turn up.
Yea , right up until superleague this occured
the Broncos successfully argued playing one final at the old lang park in 1995 v the raiders but other then that they were all played at the sfs , & the scg prior to that.

They set aside 10K tickets that you could buy to all finals including the GF at the sfs & these were always sold quickly.

That stopped after the super league war & half the comp coming from out of sydney.
All sydney finals at either
the sfs
commbank
or accor

no other venue in sydney used under any circumstance.. the advantage you have is you're not travelling out of sydney
which of the 3 above is also at the whim of the NRL with commercial & geographical considerations etc determining the venue.

do it NRL ... take the decision out of the hands of the clubs & their rampant self interest.
playing finals at venues of the quality , or lack of .. shark park is a joke
& a very bad one too

Clubs will never do whats best for anyone but themselves ,
which is why they should never make these decisions. The Governing body has the games best interests in mind , they run the finals , they should choose the venues too.

Its easy when its a higher placed non sydney team , when its a sydney team

its one of 3 venues
we know which ones ...

this is the path forward

the ridiculous prospect of 2 finals being played at shark park , & penrith .. altho the latter is far better then the former
is an embarrassment to the game ...

Only you and the miserable sad sack PR would complain about 3 Finals sell outs
The 4th in Roosters v Souffs will be 35-40k

Great result for RL

I somewhat agree with this, however it was only a few years ago they did this and teams like Manly and Cronulla were pulling 12K to their week 1 finals at the SFS. Is this what you want?

If it's an all Sydney final then yes I'd expect one of the bigger venues to be used. But for week 1 V an out of town team I'd rather a packed suburban ground. This wouldn't be such an issue if Shark Park's capacity wasn't 12K.
