Completely back the club's stance on this. While being one of the first two NRL clubs to play a Premiership game in the US would be friggin amazing, you do have to look at how it would affect the squad in their prep for the 2023 Season. As cool as it would be, sometimes you have to put yourself first.

PM’S PAULO CALL

It’s well-known Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is a died-in-the-wool South Sydney Rabbitohs tragic.

And last weekend the PM took the extraordinary step of picking up the telephone to call axed South Sydney flyer Jaxson Paulo.

Paulo became the subject of all sorts of ridiculous jibber-jabber on social media after the round 23 loss to premiers Penrith.

Among the dribble, some imbeciles even went as far as making death threats.

Seriously?
Anyway the newly-crowned PM Albo got wind of how ridiculously vitriolic some of the carry on was and picked up the phone.

It was a busy weekend for the PM who was also spotted downing a beer watching Gang of Youths at the Enmore Theatre.

It’s all part of the changing face of the Bunnies inner sanctum over the course of the last 15 years.

We’re old enough to recall the day champion South Sydney patriarch George Piggins and club legends Bob McCarthy and John Sattler led 100,000 people through the streets of Sydney to protest the club be re-instated into the NRL.

These days the Bunnies dressing room has undergone an extreme makeover with the likes of celebrities and political types including the PM Albo mingling with co-owners Russell Crowe and tech billionaire and electric vehicle proponent Mike Cannon-Brookes.

From Zero Tackle. While I like him and wish him all the best, I am happy to see the club make this decision on Sauce. It's the right call. I'll admit, I was one of those people jumping for joy when we signed him but he has been a dud signing and is well past it by now sadly,

Off the Sauce: Veteran winger hopeful of contract after South Sydney spell

He’s made just five NRL appearances in 2022 and hasn’t been seen since Round 8, but veteran South Sydney Rabbitohs winger Josh Mansour believes he still has a lot to offer in the NRL.

The man they call ‘Sauce’ has struggled for game-time at the Rabbitohs thanks to the brilliant form of Alex Johnston and the emergence of young talents Jaxson Paulo and Izaac Thompson, and has been told to seek future opportunities elsewhere.

But despite being without a club for the future, the 32-year-old isn’t giving up hopes of an NRL return.

“It’s definitely hit the ego a bit hard, I’m not going to lie,” Mansour told Channel 9’s Danny Weidler.

“But now I’ve just got to focus on the present, there’s not point worrying about what’s happened in the past.”

Despite the fact Mansour has represented Australia, Lebanon and New South Wales in some of the NRL’s most intense arenas and biggest stages, he’s still experienced plenty of self-doubt throughout the uncertainty of 2022.

“That’s been my biggest disappointment, having to question if I still have it in me (to succeed)," he said.

“A couple of months ago I went through a pretty rough patch mentally, questioning if I still have it, if I still have a love for the game.”

A Rabbitohs junior, Mansour was handed his NRL debut by Penrith back in 2012 and spent nine years at the foot of the mountains before returning to the cardinal and myrtle of Souths.

The experienced winger has scored 86 tries in 174 appearances, and is glad to be feeling like his old self as he looks toward an uncertain future.

“I’m glad I got out of that funk and re-aligned myself,” Mansour said.

“I want to keep playing, that’s what I keep coming back to.”

Mansour has been busy in the meantime, starting up his own home renovation company. If he doesn’t find himself back in the NRL, he wouldn’t mind if he followed in the footsteps of Omar Slaimankhel and wound up on Channel 9’s The Block.

“I’d love to be (on the Block) if anyone’s watching.

“It’d be stressful but I’d give it a crack, I’m sure it would be good entertainment.”

I like the idea, Cody is still fresh in a body sense. This year would have been tough for him splitting with his missus. Hopefully these become his best years!

Confirmed the Roosters have signed Jaxon.
Something wasn’t right last game and probably best he heads to a new club for a fresh start.
We weren’t able to unlock his potential.

Roosters pounce on Bunnies flyer Paulo - Transfer Whispers: https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nr...s/news-story/c43021021ea16b2ab5d062efaf244879

Jeez I didn't expect this!! I would have liked to have kept him for depth but can't say I'm gutted to see him go. For the most part, he is average, and we can't keep hanging onto that as a genuine first grade option every week. We haven't got the best out of him so it's time for a change. Going to the arch-rivals makes it all the more interesting though, he'll become hated by all of us. Don't let the door hit you on the way out Jaxson!
