I wonder how much of the Wahs crowd success is coming off the back of Samoa's success at the WC ? There was a real vibe in Auckland, flags street party's, it was great for league.

Let's just hope the Warriors don't do what they've done in the past....give everyone false hope and then get smashed by 60 and go back to getting crowds of 10k

Who truly knows what Mt Smart can hold. In the past 2 years we've seen sellouts vary from 20,766 to 26,009.

This article says they are predicting around 25K: https://i.stuff.co.nz/sport/league/...ow-impact-andrew-webster-has-made-on-warriors
That’s likely because the seating config has been changed in some way almost every year because it’s never had permanent stands at the north and south ends. Currently there’s a large two tier temporary stand at the south end, and no seating at the north end because that area gets used as the fan zone. The extra 6k for the AB tests will be achieved by putting additional temporary stands in this area, as well as on the northern hill behind it. GA tickets also used to be sold for hill in the early days, I believe.

I’ve seen the extra seating for the Raiders & Sharks games mentioned a few times, but..

Why don’t they just keep the extra seating for the rest of the year? Warriors have another 2 home games after that plus a decent chance of hosting at least 1 finals game. Surely it’d make sense to keep them there until the season is done?
The main reason would be that part of the area used for the extra seating is where the Fan Zone is usually located and that’s popular with the regular crowd - so unless they are a guaranteed sell-out the club would be reluctant to do something that’s detrimental to the overall fan experience. One possibility could be retaining extra temporary seating on the northern hill but removing it from the fan zone area, which would probably still leave around 28k capacity.

Was a bit disappointed with the crowd at AMMI at the weekend. Against a rival like Manly I thought we'd have been hitting 17k plus. Even with just 13k though it was still a decent atmosphere and AAMI is a great stadium for watching RL. It was a bloody cold night and Origin might have had some impact I suppose, I felt robbed not getting to see Munster play.

One thing they need to look at is some cheaper seat options for those who dont have much disposable cash. We bought a GA seat and with admin fee it cost $41.30. That's too much for the cheapest seat in the house imo.

There was 20K making their way in .... then when they were walking up to AAMI with you from the tram station , 5 minutes of your whining was enough to turn 7K of them around

When you add transport/parking and food it starts to become an expensive trip the footy.

Imo you can't beat $25 tix to stand on the hill with a can of tooheys, you can still do that at most suburban grounds.

Especially when the Mrs gets a taste for the $12.50 bundy and coke premixes!
Was our once yearly Storm game so didn't mind but all up I reckon we spent around $250 at the game, and thats with cheapest seats. Not massive for a one off but if it was more regular then yeh I can see why people pick and choose which games to go to go.

Maybe a little but I think most of it is just having a team playing at home to support again and them actually being good, as well as a lot of people being over Super Rugby.

It was in the local news the preceding week that half the train lines would be closed or partially closed over that weekend which would have knocked a few thousand off. Nobody likes to stuff around with rail replacement buses trying to get home at 9:30pm on a Saturday night, particularly with kids.

That’d explain the chaos of the road outside! A taxi driver said it’d cost me $55 to get back to hotel, I ubered for $12! No wonder taxis are a disappearing business.

Have you ever attended 3 games in any round?

During the Superleague war,my mates and I use to attend that many games,I lost count. In support of the ARL. We use to hate what SL and Murdoch did to the game. All thanks to John Ribot.
No I haven't. I don't know anything about the Superleague as I only started following League when Storm joined NRL. I used to watch all the big games before that but didn't have a team.

i agree
the ground hasn't changed since 2009 & they.. " allowed " nearly 21,000 in for a game that year

they've turned away 500 odd people that almost certainly would have fitted in somewhere today so there is certainly an element of inconsistency
Yeah, from what I’ve heard it has been police limited to 18000 capacity. Even though the talk when the new stand was built was that it would take the capacity to 22,000
