just imagine if instead of Allianz getting rebuilt, we still had the old SFS and a rebuilt 75k rectangular Accor with a proper club mode.
The best result was leaving both the sfs and homebush to rot and building a new stadium in a better location in the cbd

politics would never have allowed it

The only thing lost there was an opportunity to have a first class finals venue. Instead we replaced one of our better club grounds with a slightly better one, because the people in charge of it had powerful mates.
Hardly a slight Improvement. It’s on par as the best rugby league ground in the world

OK a reasonable improvement. But the old one was far from bad.
If you believe the stuff the scg trust was saying it didn’t comply with Australian standards re wiring, disability and public access and the cost to fix it was horrendous

not saying 800 million isn’t an overspend they put a lot of other extras in there for their members like an underground car park and gym

Central is prime real estate. No one is gving that up for a stadium.
Wouldn't have needed to give anything up. The idea would have been to build it OVER the existing rail lines directly south of Central. Madison Square Garden is built similarly.
Stadiums are relatively light structures for their size so can be built over areas where dense high rises can't.

Accor is best setup for all of Sydney, Allianz has many issues for those on the outskirts

The stuff they were saying was true.

However, the problem was many of its Board were exagerating the extent of the issue. I mean if it was completely unsafe, which Board members like Alan Jones kept publicly claiming, no matches would have been played there at all as no Governmenrt reguilator would have permitted it, nor would the Trust as they would have been liable if any accidents happened.

Anybody have a pax number update? Although with all the freebies and 2 for 1s I feel this may be the most innacurate pax number to date and attendance may be significantly lower then pax number. Just curious tho

Last number posted was around 45,300 without stadium members & corporates.
