This really highlights the madness of alternative strips in the NRL.


To think you need an alternative strip in a two team competition where there is absolutely no clash shows that some hipster in marketing came up with this purely as money making ploy.

It's simple: if there's no jersey clash you wear your regular colours. And who should determine if there is a clash or not - the NRL not the clubs.

By all means, change the collar, add piping or stripe here and there. There’s a tonne of ways you can refresh a jersey without changing core brand design if you feel it will help sales.

Agree but I think it has more to do with jersey sales than lack of pride. Maybe they thought a reverse strip every few years leads to a sales bump? Not a way to build a brand imo. Imagine the All Blacks doing a reverse strip lol

As for the Blues.... plural it can be sky blue or navy, as they are both prominent colors of the blues...
Still unnecessary to reverse it, but hey they have done it in the past a few times

I don't really care about the whole Navy Vs Sky Blue but the comments about Maroons being in Maroon and never deviating, sticks to the concept a little better.

I still wear my sky blue, it feels right.

Any update on the nsw jersey?

I've seen conflicting articles on them denying the nrls request, then they wore the indigenous training jersey for the team photo instead of the navy

would never happen in a million years but if they went no sponsors on the match worn jerseys for origin - that would be right

there's so much coverage up to the game - litter the sponsors on the training tops/ jackets/ hats etc - just leave the jersey's pure

the Navy strip looks alright but wear Sky Blue for the game - why change for potentially some more jersey sales - Origin makes fk tonne of money as it is

But your wrong. White, is literally the opposite to black. And being called the All Blacks, then wearing white, is worse than a different shade of blue.

which end of the day is irrelevant anyway because nsw's state colour is sky blue

As much as it pains me the digs are right, the nsw administration just doesn't get origin like the shits from the north

As Gus said on '100% Footy' last night, in reference to the navy blue / alternate jerseys in recent years: They're nice jerseys. They look good.
But they're not NSW Origin jerseys. Stick with the traditional sky blue jersey for on-field, and do whatever you want for training / warm-up jerseys.

The Dragons have not only lost coaching target Jason Ryles, but their $1 million-plus sponsor, St George Bank, has also pulled the pin on the club.

Officials were recently informed by the bank that a relationship that dates back 40 years with the club would come to an end this season.

The major sponsor has been concerned about the management of the club and player behaviour over the last few years, which has culminated with unacceptable on-field form.

The last-placed Dragons are now favourites with the TAB to win the wooden spoon.

Dragons chief executive Ryan Webb did not want to comment on the sponsorship blow when contacted on Wednesday.

Other club sources revealed officials were still in talks with the bank around staying on board with a more minor investment in the club.

The news comes after revelations Sydney Roosters assistant, Ryles, had turned down St George Illawarra’s offer of a four-year deal to be the club’s head coach.
