We were watching the 1997 Grand Final last night, although Manly lost in dieing seconds, and it broke my heart, it was good for the game.

I watch old games on nz rugby league YouTube channel all the time. Wouldn't watch over live world cup tho, lol..

Absolutely mind boggling how cheap Optus got the rights to the World Cup for. Kinda shows the TV companies still aren’t taking womens sport seriously (whilst continuing to throw money at stuff like rugby).

I know it’s a big if but if Australia make a run these could be some of the highest rating programs of the year and it seems like bidders weren’t interested.

Or maybe TV companies are not taking women's soccer seriously. In the month duration of the tournament, there is more NRLW games on FTA (25) than WWC matches (15) on Seven.

The event is still gaining traction because the Matildas are still alive, not because of Optus' coverage.

If it was truly a big event it wouldn’t be locked away mostly on an obscure oay tv channel

good crowds are obviously helped due to poor fta coverage

Reasonable for a Thursday. Interesting that NRL360 is outrating the fumbler version by a considerable margin on other nights. Their version must be horrible.

215 k for Bledisloe 2 ( probably be 450 once streaming and regionalls are added )

I'm not trying to start a kick rugby in the teeth discussion...but can anyone explain how 9/Stan sport are making any money on rugby ?

Sydney only drew 18k more viewers than Brisbane. It shows how far the game has fallen in Sydney. Bring in Brisbane 3 and watch the number of RU viewers in Brisbane drop.

That’s literally what I said though. TV companies aren’t taking womens sport seriously which allowed Optus to get an absolute bargain (and as far as I’m aware we’re then able to onsell to 7).

Yeah, timeslot permitting semi against england will get bigger rating & if they make final..

Again you are talking 1200 rating boxes that makes the ratings.

they also have to be home at the time.
You have got shift workers in there, some will be on holidays
Some will be out at various places

Then there are people who don't watch sport.

The true figure watching Sport is always higher but ratings only capture a small %

What does that have to do with it?

Take Perth. The game starts at 6pm on a Wednesday.

There is no way everyone with a ratings box will be home for 1.

2nd some will prefer the News.

That affects the ratings, Not how many people are at the pubs watching it.

That is why ratings are limited with how high they can get
