Phenomenal ratings and there seems to be a fist bit of positivity around the game. There doesn’t seem to have been as much negative stories in the pre season and around season launch.

Do ratings normally dip a bit when AFL starts? If not we look set to smash last year.

Depends on the teams. If NRL is a cripple fight then ratings will dip once other options are available

Solid ratings for two meh games.
first FTA game under a mill , but not by much
maybe 400K for the other with kayo added & as you say , neither game exactly a mouthwatering prospect

some dead set blockbusters next week tho ,
Thursday
both Friday games ( the phins will drag em in )
The Broncos on a saturday night against a well supported NSW side .. will push 600K
Bulldogs V Tigers will clear a million on Sunday

"Rupert Murdoch’s TV and streaming company Foxtel is fighting claims it is overstating its audience on key entertainment and sports content, including NRL and AFL broadcasts, which could reduce how much money it receives from advertisers."

@The_Wookie - this doesn`t make sense, if they inflate numbers surely that would mean that advertisers would have to pay more.

"If Kayo actually has 1.3m paying subscribers, it does stand to reason that there are substantial streaming viewers of its more popular broadcasts - ave NRL streams are 196,000 this year - less than 1/6th the total paying subcription audience for kayo alone."

If I`m reading this correctly, NRL ratings may actually be higher than stated.

BTW you can`t help but show your fumble colours can you, a) casting aspersions on the bumper NRL ratings figures; b) I saw your little dig at NRL expansion the other day, the one with the picture of the kid struggling in the water named PERTH, and the skeleton at the bottom of the pool named Adelaide. Tut Tut Wookie, don`t be scared, there`ll still be enough room for fumbleball when we go to 22.

I agree. Ive had a chat with someone since that has convinced me theres nothing in this at all.

Im surprised they arent higher. People i spoke to think they might actually be understated.

I quote articles all the time. It doesnt mean i endorse them,

b) I saw your little dig at NRL expansion the other day, the one with the picture of the kid struggling in the water named PERTH, and the skeleton at the bottom of the pool named Adelaide.

Christ it was a dig at the ARLC and the media putting Cairns forward as the forerunner. Not at expansion in general.

Nrl regionals 300k it will go close
And so it should, it was cracking entertainment.
For the purists, like it or not, the game last night was the sort of thing that will appeal to the next generation; frenetic, skilful yet unpredictable. You might almost compare it to a video game.

If someone scored a try like Hodgson did against me on the xbox. I'd turn it off thinking that there was a glitch

The funny thing about that try was after his (the kick happy Hodgson) complete f**k up in the first half where he kicked that grubber dead on the third tackle releasing all the pressure, only for Manly to go down the other end and score. I wonder if Arthur had told him to pull his head in with the kicking, hence the change of heart about kicking leading up to that try.
