Cause most of the heavily origin affected teams for byes

let’s watch the crowd average and see how it goes the ratings will still be ok but crowds usually start weakening

Some people believe what they want to believe. They watch a poor game in an earlier round and just think it's a poor game. They watch a poor game in the Origin period and call it Origin-affected.

Such people might be a wee bit older than the average NRL fan. Maybe a bit jaded and clinging on to pet narratives.

Good reason to think this week's ratings indicate that younger generations are not buying the Origin-affected rhetoric.
Theres probably been only a handful of games on PTV that outrated the Souths V Raiders game all season & there won't be many more that will either

origin affected ?
no such thing

Are you suggesting we can take the top 36 players out of the nrl and it makes no difference to quality of the comp? Having loads of byes is probably what saves more sht games during origin.

They purposely draw the lesser sides to play each other this time of the year. They draw the bigger sides to play their 'dud' games now

Panthers for example.

Bye this week
Dragons next week
Lose origin guys v Cows ( who also lose a few)
Knights after Origin 2
Bye before Origin 3
Into Dolphins Sunday after Origin

Other top teams have similar, They keep the top sides to play each other outside of Origin to keep the games quality.

There’s always good games affected by origin

if they’ve fixed it now fair enough

I'm saying the games in this latest round were no less enjoyable to watch than the games in previous rounds.

How do we define quality? Through the eyes of spectators and viewers or the narrow mind of a compiler of completion rate stats?

You also lose momentum of the season.

Last night was still 2 awesome games. You don't want to mess with that

The comp already loses momentum, I think the break would save it.

The energy gets sucked out of the NrL for 5 weeks then cones roaring back after origin 3

Not to mention what do the players not playing international footy do to stay match fit.

This way is best

Train….

The players would probably love the break to fix the small injuries that arent getting time to heal.

Men’s and women’s origin
png v nz women’s test series
Nz v Tonga test series in nz
png v Samoa test series in png
fiji v cook islands test series in fiji
WA V Vic state championship series
plus
SL magic weekend

7 rep games a weekend plus SL, that’d be more than enough RL content for three weeks nrl break. you could mix up the test line ups each year for variety.

id go
png series thurs night
women’s origin fri night
State championship Saturday afternoon and mens origin saturday night
other test matches Sunday

I reckon a 6 Nations of Pacific teams (NZ, Tonga, Samoa, Fiji, PNG and 1 more) or 8 nations if we can manage it across NZ would be huge there.

Keep Origin on Wedesday then flood the weekend with Pacific Test matchs.

(Good annual event to steal NZ too)

That would be because the dud games are gotten rid of during Origin
