Even the bear knows his old employer has lost the plot
He’s a twit. 215000 for that game was fine. And a direct comparison between metro and fox is non sensical as fox is metro and regional. He’s probably never heard of kayo or the fact nines figures don’t include 9 Now which he also has probably never heard of. Too many tools out there talking about figures they don’t understand.

The NRL ratings are fine. He just doesn’t understand how games are now split between platforms. Metros are becoming less meaningful as FTA declines and subscription services take over. Any program rating over a million viewers nationally three times a week for half the year is one of the top programs on TV.

The 9 ratings simply show that 9 is so terrible that people would rather pay to get something they could get for free. However, I’d argue that it actually costs the NRL some viewers. As not all viewers migrate to subscription services, some simply watch fewer games.

Jesus mate I’m 64 and never worked in media. How can I work this out and not a bloke like Ian Maurice? It isn’t difficult and if he’s going to go off he should know what he’s talking about.

I can’t believe they just don’t understand how bad their product is

ray warren stopped being a good commentator ten years before he retired

if stan get all the games it’s going to suck big time

I am interested to know how many people watch the game on the Ninenow app?

Judging by the Wookies data about 50-60000 per game

Cheers. Yeah Nine's BVOD in round 4 was 175,000. So close to 60,000 per game. Should've scrolled this thread to get my answer, but kinda lazy on a Saturday morning. Never been a morning person.😴

Tables have indeed turned with the rise of streaming and fox in favour of the NRL with 13 matches over the million mark to round 6, to the AFLs 5. This is absolutely unprecedented.

NRL: 16 Australian clubs in 3 states with 8 games

outrates

AFL: 18 Australian clubs in 5 states with 9 games

I fully suspect that both Perth and a third Brisbane side will be added within 10 years. Plus Channel 9 may finally get ditched in favour of a more supporting FTA broadcaster that supports NRL similarly to how 7 supports AFL.

You have to wonder how big the gap will grow.

To be fair, to Friday night Round 4 of each code, the AFL had 17.895m aggregate viewers to the NRLs 20.423m viewers - that lead almost entirely due to Fox and streaming.

Its not an insurmountable deal...yet.
But Origin will blow it away as usual
