Unlike this test, no disgrace

That was the test Ambrose got 7/25 in the 1st innings

Australia all out for 119 in the first innings after being one stage 2/85

Ian Bishop got the first two wickets ... then Curtly Ambrose went bonkers and apart from a run out, took the remaining wickets in without doubt the best spell of bowling I have ever seen ... and most likely ever see.

All good, in tests we're going ok (better than you in India :D), and you're heading downwards at a fair rate!

We still beat you in tests easily enough even with our current woeful performing team  Its certainly hard to watch this period in Australian cricket. I hope they can turn it around before too long, we can't end up like the West Indies after their golden era.

RE: dropping katich

To be honest Katich and Watson have been shown up by Cook/strauss. Opening is the easiest position to bat in Australia and I think putting Hughes in will be a good change, whether he gets runs or not. Katich and Watson really only have starts in them. Big team scores are built on big runs from the top 3.

While Ponting has failed this series im still confident he has big runs in him. Katich and Watson seem to get in, the fields are open and the ball is hard so they get away, but then the field tightens the bowling just geos to line and length, the ball softens and they really struggle to get the ball away and score. Katich is slow and Watson only has one gear.

So you would drop very well performing players like Katich, Haddin and to a lesser extent Hussey just because they are old?

Yes. In 2 Years time, i don't think they should be there.

Players like Hughes, Paine, Ferguson, Khawaja etc. have all got 10 year test careers ahead of them.

Why would you want to keep older players who have nothing to prove, and deny players who are young and good enough.

We could easily be back at the top of the tree in 3 to 4 years with a good group of young players coming through.

3rd test team should be...

Hughes
Watson
Ponting
Clarke
Hussey
Hussey
Haddin
O'Keefe/Hauritz
Harris
Siddle
Hilfenhaus

Neilson should go after this series... losing back-to-back Ashes is unacceptable and Ponting should lose the captaincy and be made to earn his spot again.

Congrats England, well deserved victory and it's tough to imagine Australia wrestling the Ashes off of you now.

Again, celebrate it folks!

Even watching Gilligans island is better than watching Australia play cricket ATM. SS Minnows is rather appropriate watching us play. Time to bring in generation next, and I don't think Ponting is the man for that
Job.'hopefully he steps aside gracefully and concentrates on his batting in what should a young Australian team.
