Really, the more humiliating the losses the better..

Would force heads to roll and put more importance on test cricket rather than big beat off kiddie cricket.

At least our two best batsmen are in. I reckon Watson will make a matchwinning 90 in the second innings to save us.

Coming into this test Hughes had 4 50s and 5 scores above 40 overall in 8 tests.

Much better form than Cowan and Warner and Watson.

That's not very good stats for a man who has been batting 3, he needs a 100 big time otherwise the pressure will really start to mount. Batting three gives the perfect opportunity to get the big scores and Hughes has not done that and it's questionable as to whether he can. In compassion that best number threes in the world being Trott and Amla have significantly better stats in less matches then Hughes in comparison here are their 2013 stats.

Trott
Matches:7
Runs: 587
Average:48.91
50's:4
100's:1
0's:1

Amla
Matches:5
Runs:462
Average:77.00
50's:4
100's:10's:0

Hughes*
Matches:7
Runs:350
Average: 29.16
50's:3
100's:0
0's:3
*Batted one test match at 6.

Seriously, how the hell did you soapophobes put up with being this shit for the best part of 20 years? Or does the ingrained Pommy pessimism help with not being too dissapointed? It's more frustrating than watching Peter Wallace and Scott Prince trying to work out what the f**k to do 10 meters out from the try line.

Poor batting performance all round. No single batsmen should be condemned more than another. All the top order have failed Clarke included.

When a Numpty like Divineuto *spelling is your batting coach questions have to be asked. A bigger numpty De Winter your bowling coach and a wicket keeper the spinning coach lol. Not to mention a spastic like Pat Howard in the high development role. When will Chairman Victorian be told to f**k off????

Comparing Hughes to Trott & Amla is fairly laughable. Hughes' average is more comparable to someone like Ian Healy.

Wato, you're dead right, but your argument will be fruitless against that dickhead BM.

Hughes has struggled to have an average that rivals a competent number 7 or 8 batsmen for quite some time now against quality opposition.

He is not test quality sadly. Neither is Watson, Warner or Cowan imo.

But they'll keep getting picked.

Was our batting this bad in the early 80s?
In the early 80's our batting was good, it was only after the big 3 retired and we lost a heap of experience to the rebel tours did we turn to shit. Plus we had AB who was better than Clarke.

It's not a question of being test quality or not. It's a question of being one of the 6 best batsmen your country has. Watson and Hughes certainly are.
