A bloke who averages over 100 in shield this season and topped the averages / run aggregate against India 2 years ago in his debut series....”barely offered a thing”...

I’m not bagging Khawaja... you can bag everything you like and seem to like doing it.

Both are alternatives. I’d go Harris.. then Khawaja after him - who after that amazing century in the UAE has been very ordinary in tests and perceived as lazy again in his final tests.

He’s done great things in the past but a long time ago in a galaxy far far away.

If...

these two can hold off the new ball for the next ten overs it could wear down Bumrah and with only Siraj as the other quick we could then capitalise.

I'd definitely have Khawaja in the team for any home series; ahead of Burns, Wade or Head. Take your pick.

Oozie averages 53 at home (a dreadful 28 away). So he's cut from the same cloth as Davey.

As for Harris, he averages 24 in Tests. I think he was a clear failure so if you go back to someone that's been tried before it should be Oozie.

I feel as though Usman made the critical mistake of not quite fitting into JLs "maaaaate" culture.

Wow averaging 100 on club grounds against Z grade attacks. How did he go in the A games?? You know against decent bowling?? A couple of scratchy 20’s and a couple of failures. Really demanding selection.
