Actually surprised by Warne's comments. Dropping a Victorian for a Victorian who plays for WA. I would have thought he'd give him at least one more chance.
The TV networks are missing a trick not having a laugh track handy when Warne says something. I'm sure his comments make more sense that way.

I heard Mitch Marsh on the radio this morning saying he hopes he's still in consideration for Perth and thinks he offers a lot.

It takes a very special kind of delusion to think that after getting dropped from the test team scores of 11 and 21 and match figures of 1/102 are enough to get you back in as an all-rounder.

30 runs for the game probably passes Pat Howard's low performance benchmark so it's understandable he'd think that.

I really think Burns has burnt his bridges after his comments when he was dropped after the series against the Windies, if I'm on the coaching staff or anyone at CA I would never have him near the team, refused to work on his deficiencies and virtually blamed the selectors for his being dropped.

That attitude has no place in any sports team imo

Since then he's played two tests against New Zealand (scoring 170 in Christchurch), two against Sri Lanka, and two against South Africa...one in Hobart, where he was amongst the scapegoats for that series despite having scored 235 runs in a test in NZ only two matches prior, and one where he was pulled out of a Shield final to play after the sandpaper test.

Doesn't seem like a man who was out of favour after the West Indies tests....

That’s a bit unusual cause he was flow over to South Africa for the last TEST of the series there only about 8 months ago

well it sort of shows how far down the pecking order he has slid, he used to be one of the first openers picked

terrible technique particularly something as essential as a forward defensive shot which is his biggest weakness, and he refused to work on it, even when he got dropped because the ever so average Windies attack kept knocking back his off stump or hitting him on the pads in front of his off stump

all he had to say was, yeh I need to work on that, but instead he said something like "this technique got me into the Aussie team so it must be OK, wasn't my fault I got dropped" having a big swipe at the selectors

How could I forget. I was there for that. B Mac's last Test.

Still, he did disappear for over a year.

He was dropped in Sri Lanka, came back for the 2nd Test against South Africa, and was immediately dropped again when we got pasted in Hobart.

The way he's been treated has been appalling, really, for a bloke who averaged over 40 four test matches ago. Those most recent four tests span 2 years...just a joke

Not to be a smart arse, but source?

I do not remember any comments like that and can't find any indication that he said them.

Khawaja said he was disappointed that he and Burns were dropped in Sri Lanka and felt they were scapegoats, but that's about all I can find regarding any negative comments made when Burns has been dropped.

In fact when he was dropped for Renshaw after Hobart, all Burns had to say was to give Renshaw huge support...

its not being a smartarse to ask for a source, it was an interview I saw on Foxsports News about a week after he was dropped

I'm guessing it didn't go down too well but I also dont know if he has had a change of heart as I've not seen any Qld 4 day games lately. Its his back lift which is towards gully/point and at the time he was batting for Australia I had plenty to say about it as his forward defensive shot is across the line of the straight ball

Was just in the car and had ABC radio on

They were chating about the 1st test loss and mentioned how Mitch Marsh is hopefull of being selected for the Perth test lol

LOL at Vaughn just want to make life easier for the poms in the ashes

https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/s...n/news-story/bc07be730d99d8ebde9d6e9f8837eba3

England legend Michael Vaughan believes Australia must invest in dumped all-rounder Mitchell Marsh or risk defusing one of their biggest weapons ahead of the Ashes series.

“Australia have to buy into Mitchell Marsh,” said Vaughan after day one at the Adelaide Oval.

“If he’s going to be around the Test match team for a few years he needs a run in the side - I would have played him this week.

“(He) is certainly worth persisting with and I think the only way he’ll get better and be a real prominent member of the Test team is to play a run of games.

“When you come to England in a few months time his style of bowling and play will be invaluable.”

You cant do it in shield you peaheart so big bash to find form LOL

Mitch Marsh is confident the Big Bash League will present him opportunities to impress Test selectors after failing at Sheffield Shield level in his first bid to mount a case for a recall.

Marsh was told to make runs his priority when he was dropped in favour of Peter Handscomb for the first Test.

But the WA all-rounder faced only 26 balls and was dismissed for 11 on Monday as the outplayed Warriors hung on for a draw against Victoria at the MCG.

No offence, but I'd hardly call that convincing.

When has an interview on Fox with comments they can pump as inflammatory ever not made it to print on their website?

Plus, he wasn't dropped after the Windies. He played the NY test in Sydney and then played in NZ in Feb And all he ever said after being dropped post-Hobart was pumping up Matty Renshaw.

I really don't recall that attitude from Burns either - I remember him saying he was disappointed to be left out of the squad to tour the Caribbean after being the incumbent number 6, but that's about it?

I guess Finch scoring some runs in UAE gives him another chance, another failure in Perth surely means he's back in BBL.
Based on Adelaide, Finch was playing for his BBL spot anyway.

I think they will persist with Finch till the MCG test or India 3-0....

some huge levers in the bbl will get him back...

well he definitely made those comments, I've never forgotten them, even the Fox interviewer looked a bit bemused with his comments

I mean dont you think its odd that with the runs he has on the board in state cricket that he hasn't been re selected, especially due to the fact that Warner/Smith/Bancroft got axed so there are more positions available now

Burns looks like Dravid in defence compared to that fat f**k Finch.

But he has been re-selected? Twice in fact? He featured in series against NZ, South Africa and Sri Lanka? He only lost his spot because he was undone badly by Kyle Abbott in Hobart and Herath in Sri Lanka?
