They'll probably go the same XI. But if Phil Hughes fails again in Hobart he'll probably get dropped again for the India series.

I don't understand the logic of picking Christian. He hasn't been setting the world on fire at shield level. He's nearly 30 so he's not some young prodigy. He has "mediocre" written all over him and we couldn't find anyone else to be cover in case of an injury in warm up?

would have liked to have seen Cutting get a run, shame about his injury

this might be Starc's last chance for a while so lets hope he settles down and bit and bowls as well as he has done in first class cricket

The link above says he averages 34 in first class cricket... that's about the way he bowled in the test...

There's some promise in your bowlers, but our batting lineup is pretty soft...

It sounds like Christian is a real chance of playing. I think he might be as well because you are not going to make him miss a shield game for nothing.

So you have checked his stats out for hit season then??

They want an all rounder that is why he was selected.

You had never heard of Dan Christian until he was brought in as a replacement for Cutting. Stop talking shit.

That's my feeling, but if it looks like being a road he'll come into contention in place of one of the openers.

Hughes needs a ton. Preferably in the first innings.

Well they would have to make SOMEONE miss a shield game for nothing. So they pick the average player who should never wear the baggy green.

Having an all rounder for the sake of having an all rounder is dumb. Someone that isn't that good at batting OR bowling isn't an "all rounder", that's a "no rounder".

Well done. Your carer lets you on the net and instead of an intelligent reply debating or agreeing with the points I made, you just attack me personally.

Nothing I said was wrong, he's crap. He shouldn't be in the team.

Shield this season

5 Games
475 runs
Average 59.37
2 100s 1 50
10 Wickets
Average 49

He has had a great Shield season.

He's the leading run scorer in the shield this year averaging 60 ffs.

You act like you know everything about everything when in reality you don't know shit and your article research is see through.

The reasoning behind having an all rounder in the side is to provide support to the young quicks so we don't bowl them into the ground. Christian bats better then his average suggests and bowls well with the old ball which would be handy at a flat Bellrieve track.

I think he will be a good bowler, left arm swing @ 145ks but he's only 20 or 21

I think there is potential there but we just need to be patient I reckon

I'd be very surprised if Warner didn't miss before Hughes. We've invested a fair bit in him and he scored 88 2 games ago. It would probably be the last chance saloon for him, but he'll get the chance.

If the pitch looks like it's even reasonably fair for the bowlers we'll be unchanged. It's only f**king sheep shaggers we have to get out, and they tend to get themselves out anyway. It would take a road like the Shield Final pitch to make it worth playing Dan. If they do I hope they just move Huss up to open. Our middle order is pretty much in the right order, we shouldn't f**k with it. Clarke must never ever bat at 4 EVER.

Not convinced, never have been. He's NSW 2nd XI with Doug, Copes, Pat and Haze all significantly better bowlers.

That's not to say he won't one day be very handy, but he's played Test cricket long before his time.

The end result was the same as Johnson, but I agree - looked promising - got swing in the first innings, the action looks like he'll get that more regularly than Johnson...

With Cummins and Pattison, thinks look ok for the next few years for you... Khawaja too... still hate what I see from Hughes, he will not be able to score consistently at test level with that approach - and the evidence is there now, regardless of what he does in Hobart, or in first class cricket... he'll score centuries relatively regularly, but I suspect you'll be 1/20 much more often than you'd like...

Has Bollinger been consigned to the Katich 'never to play tests again' category?

Ruggy seems to be a fair way out of favour with the selectors atm, always a few doubts over his fitness/consistency. He'll need a heap of wickets to be any chance of cracking the side this summer I reckon. If we keep improving, we'll roll India imo
