Australia went into bat...Hughes haunted. Always looked like someone caught in the sights. Now another rain delay... This will be the real test for our batting?

I see his recent form has a century, an 88 amongst 5 low scores. If that's worth dropping somebody then we really are England of the 90's.

Khawaja has 1 50 so f**k him off as well.

Ponting averaging mid 20's over 2 years and all the talk is Hughes

smh

are you and Phil related by chance?

Hughes will be back but he should be finished for a couple of years now. Needs to bat and bat and bat in domestic cricket now. Poor bloke looks a broken man.

You are in fantasy land if you think Hughes should be staying in the team after this test.

Hughes needs to be dropped Everyone knew how he was going to get out.

He should listen to what Richie said about getting his grip right.

Standard reply.

4 innings is enough to dump somebody?

Where's the chopping block for all the other nuff nuffs who can't score runs or take wickets?

Its not a matter of looking at who else should be dropped, but more who should make way for Sunshine at the top of the order? If you want to keep Hughes, you need to drop Warner. Warner has deserved his shot (for a few test matches at least)

LOL just conveniently leave the 10 failures that precede the other 6 failures with a 2 of good scores thrown in to suit your incredibly weak argument. The simple facts are in the last year almost to the day he's made 2, 12, 16, 23, 13, 12, 28, 36, 0, 126, 9, 9, 88, 11, 10, 7, 4 which is an average of 23 and is nothing short of pathetic in anyone's language. Even yours

Those numbers are remarkably Marcus North like. Shit with the occasional dollop of goodness.

Well f**k me grass is blue, sky is green and I'm an echidna. TT with a post that is spot on analysis. As rare as a blue moon but I'll take it.

For once I completely and wholeheartedly agree with you.

Let's not forget that 88 was an equal top score too. He's done more than Khawaja since Khawaja has been in the team. And he's done more than Ponting too. Don't see how either of them get picked ahead of Hughes.

Watson shouldn't be an opener. Anyone with a brain can see it's hurting his effectiveness with both bat and ball. You drop Ponting or Khawaja for Watson.

For the life of me I don't understand why Ponting or Khawaja don't get the criticism Hughes gets. His century and 88 are more than either of them have done.

Ponting gets 2 50s in that same time and everyone loves him again. Khawaja gets even less than that but because he looks pretty at the crease, everyone is in love with him too.

Hughes needs to be perserved with. The media needs to stfu and quit analysing the cricket, they don't know what they're talking about. Their job is to report the scores and f**k off.

Hughes needs to work on his form AT THE TOP LEVEL. Going back to shield is useless because all he'll do is play average bowlers on flat decks and belt them all over the country averaging 60. Hughes, warts and all, is too good for shield cricket.

Hughes needs to get good advice and fix his issues where he is right now. Opening for Australia.

If either Ponting, Khawaja or Warner don't score 100s in this test and they're still in the team at Hughes' expense, it's a disgrace.

To be Khawaja doesn't look like he has a glaring weakness in his game that has been exploited multiple times and most likely will be into the future like Hughes.

Khawaja is into his 6th test and has 1 significant innings to his name. Hughes, with all his well known flaws has done more in that same period. Now imagine his potential with those flaws fixed.

And like I've said many times, I'm not a Khawaja hater, I'd have him in my 11 as well, but if one of them has to be dropped first, it simply can't be Hughes. Flaws and all he's done more than Khawaja has in recent tests.

And both of them should be picked ahead of Ponting and Warner when Watson/Marsh come back.
