Punter does look out of sorts and I've been supporting his being selected.

My biggest problem is, who do you replace him with.

Clarke played a poor shot but he's been carrying us for a while now. Hussey got a ripper of a first ball, Ponting has a couple of runs under his belt recently...so it looks like Hughes and Usman are the one to go for the Boxing Day Test should the selectors go that way. Rightfully so too, Usman is probably a little unlucky as at least he's been fighting a bit and shown glimpses, but Hughes has been awful. Both will benefit from time in the shield and come back better

I think that sums it up word for word.
The only potential issue is whether Marsh can slot straight back in after a lengthy break. If he fails in that prime ministers game and Khawaja gets a few, I think they may stick with Khawaja.

Surely some pressure should come on Ponting and to a lesser degree Hussey?? Both 37 and let's face it aren't going to get any better. Hughes has to go and one of Ponting and Hussey should make way. It won't happen but it should.

Only Hughes is out of form apparently. What's Ponting done since Roach bent him over?

Tail helped in South Africa (even in Newlands) and the South African attack is better than the NZ attack. Haddin sucks, Siddle could make the runs though, Siddle has the perfect temperament for this situation and the ability to stay out there and make the required runs.
I feel that Australia will still win this, thanks both to a great innings by Warner and NZ's lack of a genuine gun wicket taker. But we cannot rely on the tail every game to get us out of tight spots, sooner or later quality opposition will find you out.
If all was fair and equal Ponting, Hughes and Khawaja should be dropped next test. Ponting time has passed, spit on your hands one last time Ricky and f**k off. Phillip needs to go back to shield cricket for an extended time and earn his place ala Hayden and Langer. He would struggle to get a opening spot fir Bangladesh ATM. Khawaja continues to disappoint. He looks like a test player and then gets out.
My feeling is that Hughes and K will be dropped for Watson and marsh and f**king ponting will get another chance. Hussey has a few runs in the bank and is somehow taking wickets. But surely his time is almost up.

Haha told my uncle that Warner was the key for Australia and he laughed at me saying he's no more than a T20 slogger.

This guy has got the goods and well done to him on his first test century.

So many people had thoughts like this. And most of those narrow minded buffoons know crap all about the longer form of the game.

Congrats Warner, the poor batting from the others have made this knock even more special.

I know and it baffles me as to why people think this. Virender Sehwag said that this guy would be a very good test player and his reasons for it were exactly right.

this is why I like Warner, because I like how he has matured as a batsman with clear desire to become a real cricket player. I hate T20 with a passion and didn't like Warner when he first came onto the scene, but came to like Warner because of how he became a shield cricketer and really earned his way into the test side. He struggled in his first ODIs, but has really grown as a batsman since.
