Sorry bruh but you guys weren't better in the UAE than us,you got destroyed in the 1st test, after that Phillips Hughes passed away and both teams didn't care in the test that NZ ended up winning to draw the series, that wasn't a true test match at all.

Sorry, but yeah we drew the series, you got pumped... same in England (we should've won 2-0).

Lot of should haves with NZ cricket, but we did draw in the UAE

Nope that was a farce of a test match,Hughes passed away on the 27th which was right when that 3rd test started, neither team gave a stuff about cricket at that point, that was a joke test match equivalent to backyard cricket.

No intensity in that test match,no bouncers, none of the players wanted to be there, that was basically an exhibition match.

Pakistan destroyed NZ 1-0(3rd test doesn't count in my book)

Hayne, did you watch the second test? Pakistan managed to hold out for a draw (they never had time to win it). And KW and Bmac obliterated them in the 3rd. Stranger things have happened than KW and Bmac getting big scores.

Anyway, Patto, Hazelwood and Lyon are gun.

Khawaja and Voges had summers to remember fondly. Burns still has his head above water.

Aus are arguably better now than they were then.

Same cannot be said for Craig, Boult and even Southee, and Rossco is irreplacable for NZ.

It's not well made, but he does kind of have a point....I think they called off a day of that match didn't they? The day Hughes passed? I don't agree that the series draw counts for nothing, but that Test would have been much less competitive in the wake of what happened.

That doesn't mean I disagree with NZ being a decent side, I actually think they've been below par this series and are a quality side. But someone like Hughes being killed on the field sent shockwaves through the game

NZ wanted a day off but were refused. Game went ahead. Bmac slogged a double. Much like the 145 against your mob and the 195 against SL.

Gotta say this is strange form talking about NZ in the UAE. Best innings I've seen from KW. Better than the SA 100 to save a game.

Regardless, we won that brilliantly, and the second test was good - we've been a much better side than shown in this series. There's not really any sensible argument that the Hughes tragedy would have affected Pakistan more

As I've said, Australia have been very good, and dominated us - I think we have some legitimate excuses, but that's kind of irrelevant, some players down on form, and some poor selections, but your guys have lifted their game, had a real focus and discipline, and we've wilted...

Anyway, the poster above asked why I thought we were close - I said why (HT disagrees, but he's a turnip), and why you've pounded us (you've improved, we've regressed), and Smith is really developing as a leader

It is a nice wake up call before a huge summer next year.

I expect the Chappell Hadlee to be of a really high intensity next year. And I'm looking forward to Mustafizur and Rabada comming here for the first time.

Indian and Safrican tours will be a good test for the side before playing 7 tests at home. I think we will see a few selection changes in that time. Pakistan with Amir, Yasir and maybe Asif and a fit Safrica with Philander, Steyn, Morkel and Rabada are going to be tough times. Not to mention Khan, Misbah (if) AB and Amla's batting.

I think we will see Wagner get more responsibility as third seamer, Nutall to maybe get a go, see some new batsmen because Nicholls is nowhere near test quality at present without an ability to drive well in the V. Might see Jesse back, Colin given a go in the whites. Jeet or Ben, or both may get an openers berth at some point. Plenty to look forward to under new skipper KW. The brains trust that left Wagner out of the Australian tour need to eat some humble pie. But they won't. But I think we will see some positive changes. I am excited as to what spinners play in India and how they go, Todd Astle, Sodhi, Santner even Craig and Williamson...

I think KW may be tactically a better leader than BMac, even if less aggressive. Time will tell. It is another thing to be excited about following NZC this year. I am very interested in how far Tom Bruce can get to by this time next year. A disapointing summer, but these are far from the darkest days for NZ cricket.

But if Boult could just get his swing back...

Thought we were close because we were better in the UAE, we were better in England... then Boult got hurt - the Brisbane test was disastrous then the series in Aust was close, and Adelaide, we the Llong factor was a factor...

You've improved, we've slipped - our bowlers have done poorly, we missed Taylor and there's been a huge focus on Williamson - Aust has been very impressive in all aspects in these two tests, good tosses to win, but you allowed us a sniff

I put a lot down to Smith - he's really impressed me

Not sure you were better in England, we were 1-1 after two tests as well. You saying you win the series 4-1 or 3-2 if it was 5 tests?. We all said the same when Australia was 1-1

UAE we were ratshit, as we have been in india

We have always done well in NZ and SA, nothing is changing here

We could have been 2-0 in England and should have been 1-0 and not chased victory at Lords.

Shoulda woulda coulda, but the media thought Lords was already won on days 1-3 and even still favoured us on day 5. The NZ tail was far too cocky in the first innings for mine, and Henry's bowling to Stokes in that match was nigh on unforgivable and certainly not planned to his field set. Cook played a blinder, though.

I think you're kidding yourself that the series in Australia was close. The two daytime tests were a comfortable 1-0 victory to Australia. The third test was a bit of a lottery with the teams adapting to night cricket for the first time but the Aussies still won. I know you think the Kiwis "shoulda" won but they didn't. 2-0 in a 3 test series is a pretty comfortable margin.

As would be 1-1.

These are pointless debates.

Credit to Nathan Lyon, he has broken many kiwi cricketers' hearts this year and is a very good cricketer.

Hopefully will be a cracking day 4

If NZ can get 200+ ahead then its any ones game IMO. If we get 2-3 wickets early could be game over before tea

Hopefully test goes well into day 5, as I have the next two days off work

Don't tease NZ fans like that.

We need Anderson, KW and Watling to make significant scores to get 200+ unless some flukey tail ending slogathon happens.

Even then, if there is no swing for Boult, will Australia swing again with pull shots during Wagnerline? Australia only need a draw before chasing risky runs off Wagner.
