I get a lot of those types of all fluff but no substance responses when criticising Clarke.

And you ignore the ones that have substance so whats the point?

As mentioned earlier, the century last game was a great captains knock. His debut century was another. First test 05 Ashes. The century in 09 Ashes.

You're talking shit.

Bad shot by ponting in the end. didnt ever look comfortable but i really thought he would fight through it and follow through to a hundred.

SA must be firm favourites to win this now

a first innings score mixed with a 2nd innings failure, innings from 7-8 years ago and the only innings in the last 5 years that has meant something which I already gave him credit for (and was still only ever to save us a draw).

Not exactly littered with achievement over the past 5-6 seasons is he?

Clarke scored a 4th innings big century at Lords in 2009 iirc.... Too bad we had been bowled out for under 200 in the oh so unimportant first innings we probably would have won the test.

His 90 odd in the second innings of the Lords test in 2005 saved our arse like his century and half century did in Sri Lanka which the muppet didn't know about

Then there was his 80 odd against the Paki's swinging it sideways. Too bad we were bowled out for 80 in the first innings (doesn't mean anything) because we would have posted a better target.

I seem to recall 6/9 before we couldn't chase 96 either.

123 in 50 overs in easily doable if we don't lose another wicket anytime soon, but then the light becomes a factor

If we can win this with Ponting not being able to carry on with his innings, we hit two birds wit one stone. Also hopefully Johnson is dropped, he is continually the most expensive player, he has become a high risk/low reward player.

I think Australia are in a decent position at the moment, with 100 odd runs to get, Australia need to believe they can get them with anyone down to the last wicket.

For South Africa, Hussey would be a big wicket as the last recognised batsman but they shouldn't feel as though they are in a comfortable position until the tenth wicket has fallen.

about sums it up for me.

You'd like to think we could still bat it out if we lost hussey but i would not be confident.

Knowing our luck Johnson would come in and be the saviour.... securing his spot for the summer

Less than a hundred to go!
Hussey needs to keep reminding Haddin that he doesn't need to hit every ball for 6!

Haddin is about to get out at any moment.

yer he still looks out of form. I think Wade or Nevill are going to take over in the next few years but realistically both are still pretty inexperienced still and could do with a year or two more in grade to refine their skills.
