Keep in mind this wicket is not adelaide or the gabba

We get to 200 plus, then we could easily dismiss the poms for under 200 with our abundant pace atrack, all will be bowling shorts sharp and fast spells. Cant wait

EDIT - If we can get to 100 plus......

Aust 4/36
Short bowling won't win Australia the game here. The only player who can bowl consistently good bouncers has been dropped.

Who would have thought at the start of this series, we'd be relying on Hussey in every test of the Ashes, and he delivers nearly every time.

Green pitch, but it's solid and bouncy.

Batting crap. all batsmen have edged several deliveries.

Trying to bat aggressively and sufferring the consequences of not having the form to get away with it.

Bowlers wicket
Hughes played an average shot but great delivery
Watson got a very good ball as well
Ponting and Clarke woeful shots

Does anyone reckon the bowlers will be spared all the blame for this one now that the top order has failed again? They couldn't get 250 batting first at Adelaide and yet somehow dodged any real criticism. Surely now something must be done.

It's certainly not a minefield.

There's definately abit in the wicket but it's more a combination of excellent bowling and nervous batting IMO.

And also how batting line-ups can no longer deal with wickets with abit in it first up because they're so used to batting on roads from ball one.

With Kat not playing we have no one bar Hussey who is willing to bat
Ugly. A team full of Millionares when all we had to do was
Hang tough till lunch. Give me Border or Tugga over Ponting anyday.

Hussey should have opened. Ponting and Clarke haven't had to come out so often and so early in a test series ever before. Sure that shouldn't be an issue, especially for Ponting, But i think it is proving to be a problem.

Hussey and Hughes would have been a smarter opening pair today. Watson at 6 after Smith. Haddin at 7.

So far this series (Including today) Ricky Ponting has the lowest batting average of all recognisable batsmen, except possibly Marcus North who is one position below him.

Ponting is averaging 20.5 this series so far. His unbeaten half century is flattering his stats.

This series

Ponting 82 runs @ 20.5 (5 innings with 1 not out)
Clarke 94 runs @ 23.5 (4 innings)

Until pup's batting sorts itself out, Ponting's position won't be under pressure.
