Well Australia have obviously decided the plan is to get to 30 overs 2-3 down, at any cost, and leave it to the rest to accelerate to 300.

The problem is that a) most teams haul down 300 easily now and b) the plan backfires badly if the middle order doesn’t fire.

Short sighted plan. England learned that going hard for fifty overs is how it’s done now and got to top ranking.
