he had a niggle leading up to the match and was OK to bat but possibly wouldn't bowl, looks like he is still carrying some sort of injury

How does he maintain his spot in the team if he’s unable to bowl?? Actually scratch that how does he maintain his spot full stop?

Recent history says if we don't win at the Gabba we don't win the series.

Since 1998 these are the 6 tests below that we haven't won the Gabba test match.

And in all 6 of those series where we only got a draw or beat we haven't gone on to win any of those series.

Khawaja, Marnus and probably McSweeney with most to lose going in to tomorrow... Another single figure dismissal by any/all of them in an otherwise pointless innings further dents their confidence and beats them up psychologically ahead of Boxing Day....

Probably best fo Australia for it to just piss down rain in Brisbane and call it off.

And whats the point of cooking Starc & Cummins using up more petrol with 2 tests to go a bowler down for another 40-50 overs today in the field.

India is not getting bowled out in 55-60 overs on that wicket

I think he's a decent all-rounder. He's made runs and taken wickets, but let's face it, he's a place holder until Green is fit and he's more a white ball player than a test match player.

And picking an all rounder who is not fit enough to bowl is just dumb. Webster would have been a better, and fitter, option for mine.

Mate he averages 30 with the bat and 40 with the ball, he’s not a test all rounders arsehole but atm he’s playing as a top 6 bat which is absolute BS.

Has 51 wickets @ 36.36, 1 five wicket haul.
Useful bowler if he wasn't averaging 30. And was able to bowl more than 10 overs a game.

How can a top 6 batsman average 30 stay in the side this long?

If his father wasn't Geoff Marsh he would be playing big bonk cricket with the other nuffies a long time ago.

Marsh averaged 21.73 in 2018, 20.50 in 2019 before he was finally dropped. Came back in 2023 and averaged 67.50, including 2 hundreds.
2024 he's averaging 23.08, so basically an average in the low 20s is his baseline.

He shouldn't be near the test team.

Marsh's second stint the team has been better.

But if he isn't in the runs at all in this series we move him on. Green in or a spin all rounder option for Sri Lanka. If we make the WTC then they may look at Marsh again but we really should look to the future. New blood for the 25-26 Ashes.

The Bison is that a bits and pieces player that England would always pick and give them 60-70 tests while we would mock them for years for doing it.

Chips in here and there but never consistent or elite enough in either facet of the game.

Head and, Marnus were average Shield players, well nothing screaming out to be picked in the test side

Smith came into the side as a leg spinner. Warner was a white ball boy.

Point being, if those guys can go to another level (eventually) and have a long international career then those guys we mentioned can as well. I think we will be fine, just maybe need to be a bit patient . Love to give Konstas another year of Shield/red ball, before test cricket

If he was batting 7 and bowling 15+ overs every innings (I do think his average with the ball doesn't reflect his ability as a bowler, he doesn't bowl enough) then ok, but he's batting fking 6 and being used as a part timer.

Webster is a much better bat. And if he's only gonna bowl 5 overs as a part timer, he can give you solid seamers and a bouncy offie.
