4th Test: Australia v India @ MCG Dec 26-30, 2024

People have called to make changes to test cricket, but those ideas are like T20 and ODI making it fancy, reduce the number of days, play 8 balls overs or some other ridiculous ideas.

To me, leave test cricket how it is. This test had so many twists and turns and Australia winning was a great result. It sets up an amazing test for Sydney which I believe the first 3 days will be packed, possibly a 4th day.

Test cricket > T20 Internationals
As soon as they start f**king with the test format, cricket will die. I come from from a family of die-hard cricket fans and none of them are interested in T20s. I imagine that data can be extrapolated. The networks and CA talk the big bash up endlessly but, in reality, it’s mostly as boring as batshit.

test cricket is a true test of skill which is why so many countries struggle at it. T20s are just a bunch of sloggers closing their eyes and swinging on roads.

Some bloke in the crowd said "First Sandpaper, now the umpires".

I think it was on a whiteboard. Seriously do they allow some bloke into the ground with a whiteboard and marker just to write rubbish?

Did he make any mention of the LB that should have seen the bloke gone in the 30's?

one of the regular responses from them on Insta last night is the old "we were playing against 12 men" and accusing the umpire of being an Aussie when in fact it was Sharfuddoula Saikat who is a Banger

This one is especially great given Akash was caught...

yet when they were confronted about Jaiswal's non LBW when he was 30, they just ignore you

I really don't know how much more of the ball was needed to hit the stumps for that to be givn out, that was a poor decision by Saikat imo, but we moved on

Reminds me of the monkeygate game. There was some howlers both ways there yet it’s painted as some huge injustice against India that would have been avoided had they been able to see off one Michael Clarke over

Well the third umpire doesn't make that call, the tech does. The tech was drunk AF but nothing the third umpire could do about it

Hotspot technology is not used in cricket for a number of reasons, including:
  • Cost: Hotspot can be expensive for broadcasters, costing around $10,000 per day.

  • Military technology: Hotspot is a military technology, which some say is a reason why it's not used.

  • Inaccuracy: Some say Hotspot is inaccurate.

  • Lack of cameras: There may not be enough cameras to use Hotspot for an entire tournament.

  • Consistency: Organizers may choose not to use Hotspot for consistency.

  • Confusion: Faint edges on the bat can sometimes be missed by Hotspot, which can create confusion.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) does not include Hotspot in their Decision Review System (DRS) calls for tournaments. Individual boards and broadcasters can decide to use Hotspot in bilateral series.
