Hughes will be on his last chance when we get to Seth Efrika..

They will give him a chance to get back to form in the only place he has prospered..

I'll probably be called mad,but i'd put Warner in for Hughes..

The future of our batting attack is giving me a few concerns, once we lose 2 all time greats in Ricky & Huss..

No one in the Shield scored massive amounts of runs last year,so our depth is a problem..

 Warner? He has a LONG way to go to prove he has the temperament or technique to play the longer version of the game.

And  @ Greig desperately wanting Ponting to be out earlier when it flicked his pad.

Hughes needs runs, nearing the end of his chances IMO. Will get the Saffa tour you would think..

As i stated some may think i'm mad..

But look beneath the surface..He has a fantastic technique..And has performed almost every time he has been given a chance in the true form of the game..

He got a double ton in a 4 dayer for Australia A,as someone else pointed out as well..

Each to their own..But i can see Warner succeeding if given a chance in the baggy green..

It is the people who just don't have a clue and take no real notice of cricket that often do this IMO.

I realise that the Zimbabwe team was not that strong but when a guy scores a double century with a s/r of 60 then you have the temperament to play the longer form. He had a similar s/r for a score of 40 odd in the other game and went absolutely crazy in the second innings chasing a low total for a win.

He needs to be given the chance and he's probably better of heading up to Queensland or going to Western Australia to get a chance.

Maybe Warner should take the gloves? He'd be straight in the team if he could handle himself half decent behind the wicket.

Warner has been flown over there for back up so obviously they took a bit of notice of his form in Zimbadwe.

I'd prefer Kat for Seth Efrica

Me too..

Hopefully the new selection panel agrees with us..

I'm all for new blood in the side..It has to be the right new blood..And they have to be in form..

He deserves consideration but that's not the point. He has the temperament and technique to play the longer form

Perhaps he does, but he hasn't proved it yet. Every other player in the pecking order has performed over a period of time. Even Hughes (although his form over the past 18 months, other than the end of the last domestic season, has been questionable).

Warner has shown some form over the past 12 months but that doesn't mean shit. He needs to prove he can do it consistently. So, he still has a LONG way to go before he should seriously be considered for Test cricket.

I will say one thing though, I'm impressed that he has noted that he doesn't want to be pigeon-holed and wants to prove himself in the longer form. There are a lot of young players coming through now who couldn't give a shit because of the dollars on offer in Twenty20 etc.

I am of the opinion the top 4 in a test side needs to be able to score 100s regularly. Number 5 has to be a fighter that doesn't give his wicket away lightly. Watson to me is a 6 batsman, if he has a strong line up ahead of him he could be in when the second new ball is taken and he is good for a 50-60. Marsh played the type of innings fit for a top 4 batsman. He has a wide range of strokes which makes him tough on most decks.

I'd get over Katich if I were you lot. Was shafted but I understand and agree with the reason behind it. Should have been Ponting but we know that wasn't going to happen unless he walked himself.

You agree with punting our most consistent batsman?

Telling.
