Has anyone come out and actually explained the thinking behind having Lackofchange batting at #3?

I read today that Langer said it was because he bats at 3 for his state. My favourite quote was "He's a terrific fielder."
This is what australian cricket has come to. Thrashings, nuffies and encouragement awards. Wonder if Cummins was given a tin of milo after his 6-fa in Melbourne?

My favorite quote was when he said criticism burns happiness.

What the f**k does that even mean? How can any of this mob be happy to begin with?

For a bloke that more than held his own in a team that won everything, he sure does embrace mediocrity.
And possibly shitloads of marijuana too, by the sounds of it.

Warney might be riding him, but he’s not wrong in this case. Starc has had a below average 12 months. We aren’t a good enough team that anyone should be safe if they’re playing below par. Especially when there’s other guys knocking on the door.

It’s M.Johnson all over again, looks good for a few years at the start of his career then goes to absolute shit for a few, to left hand bowlers just say no

Starc looks troubled and out of rhythm, much like Harmison when he lost it.

Should never have played in this test, the Indians have seen these four enough and there’s no punches left.

I am afraid we haven't got anyone better, it's not that we've bowled badly, I just think it's as simple as India have won every toss that they needed to win, the 3 decks that have turned out to be day 1 roads.. India have batted first, they typically will make 400+ and a draw will be our best chance of a result as we're not going to score 500+ and they've got too much class on wickets that aren't doing a hell of a lot

Our bowlers aren't the issue, what bewilders me is that Marnus (I won't even attempt that surname) is our #3 bat, the position in your batting order where you typically want your best player, he averages 30 odd in first class cricket and even less in the limited opportunities he's had for Australia

I hope he makes a fool out of me but I would absolutely shocked if he did, they should've just picked Burns, he will not have done any worse than what old mate Marnus will do, I am convinced this is one of the worst selections in the history of Australian cricket

Poor old Shane’s stats might be correct but he fails to mention that the Indians are probably the best leg side players in the world so why would you bowl straight at them?

Ponting and Fleming said it best this morning, to get wickets against India, the bowlers really need to target between the chest and head then pitch it up.

Our batsmen are worse, but our bowlers are absolutely an issue. They just aren’t firing regularly. We had the third worst bowling attack in 2018 (runs per wicket)

Yeah but there are other factors at play too. It's not just rocking up and bowling on an equal playing field. And Haze and Cummins didn't even go to the UAE, for eg.

Our bowlers must almost never be rested the way our batsmen perform.

EDIT and before anyone tries to mangle that statement, they have certainly been poor at times. But there are more reasons for that than just them being poor of their own accord

I think I get what your saying mate, it must be f**ked for them to bowl a team out for a low score only to watch as our batsman totally fall apart, come in and try and put in the mental strength to save the lower order with the bat, fail or score some runs then come out after that and bowl at your best.

Take your point about the UAE, but it’s only 2 tests of a 10 test year.

Unlike batting we actually have some depth in the fast bowling department, If someone is consistently underperforming then they should be dropped.

Problem is though drop haze or Starc and as there walking out the door both marsh boys are there saying “jeez, hard luck mate” then the bowlers like hey, what the f**k?
