Ok I will, f**king nerds.

Yeah, all those nerds talking on the sports forums, discussing and debating selection strategies o_O
ICCs ODI team of the year.

  1. David Warner (Australia)
  2. Rohit Sharma (India)
  3. Virat Kohli (captain) (India)
  4. Babar Azam (Pakistan)
  5. AB de Villiers (South Africa)
  6. Quinton de Kock (wicket-keeper) (South Africa)
  7. Ben Stokes (England)
  8. Trent Boult (New Zealand)
  9. Hasan Ali (Pakistan)
  10. Rashid Khan (Afghanistan)
  11. Jasprit Bumrah (India)
8. Trent Boult
Is it just me, or is Woakes spelt wrong?

Or is it lightsabermetrics?

Well it is neither because I didn't pick this team. But I would probably drop Boult for Woakes in that particular 11 today. Maybe Hasan Ali. Either way, I'd have Woakes at 8.

What would the ICC know???

Sabermetric analising is where it’s at.

What is the point of this post?

Are you against Sabermetric analysis? Or just against number 8 being thought of as a dual bat and bowl role?

What is your problem with people doing analysis? What is your problem with nerds?

Why do you come accross so angry in your posts that someone should dare suggest that batting abilities should be considered for #8 in a batting line up?

Do you agree with every selection that the ICC team of year or tournaments have picked? Is this customary? Am I offending you and the ICC by offering a differing opinion?

Back to union trololololol.

When did I say they were absolute positions?

All I said I would prefer Sabermetrics over Hiney's viewing.

How is me preferring batting ability at 8 not indicative of sabermetrics but of personal judgment without statistical thinking?

Are you actually thinking your posts through, or just angrily posting insults?

I simply opined that I think Woakes is the best player for a World ODI XI listed at 8.

Hindy disagreed, as he believes number 8 should be one of the 4 best bowlers in the world.

Personally, I would reward batting ability more than Hindy would.

What could have been a polite debate, and a good one, has since turned into a insult fest of nerds and supposed union trolls.

Well done guys.

You are ignoring content by this member.

Except when I choose to. A bit like choosing sabermetrics one minute and personal judgement the next.

You also seem to think that thinking of batting and bowling as a dual role at 8 is counter intuitive to sabermetrics. It is not. Quite the contrary.

You also appear to be laboring under the misunderstanding the sabermetric thinking and personal judgement are necessarily mutually exclusive. It is not.

People in their personal judgement may ascribe weight to sabermetric variables, and to the sabermetrical outcome when forming their personal judgement. People may be wholly, partially, nor not at all swayed by sabermetrical thinking.

Personally, I am a fan of sabermetrics.

Why use 5 words when you can use 5 paragraphs........

Are you happy and feeling satisfied now Hiney?

Got enough people in your corner joining in doing a good job insulting me for expressing an opinion that Woakes' batting makes him in my opinion the best ODI #8 option in the world?

Are we talking baseball today. I'm wondering when the Red Sox will sign JD Martinez... but I'd expect his sabermetrics don't measure up, especially not over the 5-6 years he'll get

IPL owners not into them either, theatre glass Lynn and The Big Show getting top dollar

Looking forward to seeing this new stadium, hopefully ch9 can show us some of its bells and whistles throughout the match. Or even a good segment before the toss

Have a cousin over there who said the stadium is out of this world

Scorchers gave their semi here on Thursday, win it and the final is here as well on Sunday

England are 2.10 to win, I think we'll because it's a big occasion with the new stadium but I tell you what.. that's tempting, they were 5 for f**k all and still managed to make a game of it last time, I don't expect us to skittle them like that again, although I was expecting our bowlers to dominate somewhat earlier in the series

Mate I’m at the stadium right now and it’s a pretty damn good venue.

Nothing says “I’m at the Cricket” more than beers at 10am.
