Can confirm that Witt is playing Cutters this week and that Williams is also not playing first grade. We have ourselves a new halfback this week.

What makes you think that and I'm assuming you're suggesting Quinlan at 7?
I can't see that happening at all and by all accounts Witt is playing No.7. As much as I'm a Quinlan fan and 100% believe his position is at 7 I think it's not the safe option at this time. Witt is really the incumbent and based on his performance should be reinstated however if he struggles in any way Quinlan is my next choice as Williams has had his shot. They all bring some qualities so hard to split.

Really would like to see a Widdop/Quinlan combo bear fruit. Add a little Duges and It's going to be so spice!

I would be a little nervous about that mostly as I've been suggesting that for quite some time so could get some serious egg on my face lol. If it does happen at some point just think of the attacking arsonal we would posess in the backline!!! Quinlans speed & backing up, Widdop, Dugan, Morris, Gypsy with Beale and Farrell starting to hit their straps!!! FFS that is a serious backline! Think I've changed my mind about Fafita......sign him and we are contenders

Quinlan had a great first game in the halves last year then slowly faded out. He had a solid first two weeks at fullback then slowly faded out. Choosing him at 7 would be madness. He'll just shovel the ball on and get hammered in defence. He's a good back up option to Dugan and shows lots of promise but in truth, is one year, 8 kgs and truck loads of confidence from being geared to first grade.

I agree 100% he is 8kg too light for fullback at NRL level and a year away and he's been batting above his weight to his credit. I also agree he needs to build some confidence but I don't think that will happen being belted every week at fullback. I disagree strongly about last year at 5/8 though, he was our most dangerous player scoring a try and providing a try assist every 2nd week in a team that strugled to score 10pts. We had him as a rookie outside of Fein and both Soward and Chase failed, he was playing behind a pack that was being mowed down by the bottom feeders yet he still looked dangerous. Maybe you didn't take those things into account as I've seen every half or 5/8 fade under those circumstances yet Quinlan was still dangerous. Against the Sharks this year he had blood streaming from his ear but still took all the high balls, his kick returns were terrible I agree and he seemed to be shot for confidence. He is more the opportunist type so has to be close to the ball and things will happen like the break he made against the Bronco's last week then got tackled to the ground yet still got up and backed up again and then we scored next play. We dont have any other player like that and most teams don't. Very CDE like. Every team needs one of those players to convert half chances to points. You also have to keep in mind both the sharks and broncos dominated us for field position and in the forwards. This year we have 2 other halfbacks and Williams I think is a great long term prospect if he can be consistent with his composure and Witt was very solid in game one so I'm not suggesting Quinlan should be our 7 but the other 2 guys have to give us reason he shouldn't be and so far the jury is out

If Quinlan is half, Price must move away from the idea of splitting the halves left and right, and allow Widdop to to control the entire field. However, as this point this would be madness given that they've trained all off-season with 5/8 on the left, halfback on the right. Wrong gameplan to have Quinlan at 7.

Only issue for qui lam at half is has he got the ability to direct the team? All well and good having a half that can run and back up but can he kick and is he verbal enough to push the big fellas around the park?

Have been informed by a credible source from within the club. I am assuming it is Quinlan who will be our new half because I can't see Kyle starting yet.

Be my wet dream to have Quinlan @7, Widdop @6 and 100% agree with you Benny, its all about Widdop running most of the show, with Adam floating around to pounce.. either Adam or Dugan will need to help out with the general kicking though..

The difference between 2014 and 2013 is Adam didnt have a dominant half to work with.. but hes still going to need heaps of time.. hes being thrown in there against a South Sydney side that is one of the biggest in the comp and desperate to win...

Anyway hope its true.. Witt imo would be a better option from the bench than Stanley, but Price is apparently still riding that horse... Unless Stanley is the #7.. hmmm.

Thanks mate this is exciting news, late mail on the NRL.com says Witt under an injury cloud but still looks like we will be 1-17.

Very interesting indeed. If true you have got to give to Price, he's shedded the conservative approach, I suppose when your job is on the line somepeople think outside the square. Can't wait for confirmation of the final 17.

Also can't wait to see what the line-up is that runs out on Saturday night. Feels a little different this year in that I feel the boys will put in a much greater effort (compared to last year) regardless of the team changes.

I'll be excited to see Quinlan in the #7 if it ends up happening, but definitely think it would take quite a few games to gel.

Some will see it that way, others will see it that he is impatient.
He can't win.

I am still of the belief that Quinlan and Kyle should prove themselves as halves in the Cutters prior to be considered as a half in the NRL side. First grade is not the place to experiment unless there is no other option.

Witt is currently our best option at halfback. If he is unavailable through injury, then it has to be Williams at half mainly because Quinlan and Stanley are untested at NRL level or even Cutters level at halfback.

Quinlan I think would be like Alfie at 7. If this is true this weekend, I'm expecting he will get belted by the big Rabbits but if thisd sticks, man, Dragons would be looking very good in their 'spine' for the next few years. Would love to see Quinlan in 7 tomorrow night.
