ST GEORGE Illawarra have a massive decision on their hands with promising forward Addin Fonua-Blake having pled guilty to assaulting his ex-girlfriend.
Fonua-Blake, 19, faced Waverly Court on January 29 accused of kicking his then- girlfriend at an Eastlakes home on January 18.
RLW can reveal that Fonua-Blake pled guilty to the charge of Common Assault and is due for sentencing on April 14.
The former NYC captain and junior Kiwi was stood down from club duties in January.
Touted as a future NRL star for the Red V, Fonua-Blakes career is now in serious jeopardy and could be over before it begins.
Last November the NRL banned Rabbitohs premiership centre Kirisome Auvaa for an indefinite period after he pled guilty to assaulting his then-girlfriend back in January 2014. At the time of Auvaas suspension, NRL CEO Dave Smith made the following statement:
We abhor violence against women and it will not be tolerated in our game. Everyone needs to understand if you are violent against women there is no place for you in rugby league.
The revelation could not come at a worse time for the Dragons who were recently forced to stand down centre Dane Nielsen after he allegedly bit a womans leg at a Cronulla night club.
The NRL Integrity Unit is still investigating the Nielsen matter.
