if Rugby League players were that great, NFL scouts would've signed them, simple as that, League players are pissweak in comparison to NFL players. It was funny, when Mason was at the top of his game, argurably the best forward in the game went over and tried out with the at the time 3-13 jets, i think he lasted a week? lol

Inglis, the greatest athlete ever in RL, well, ummm, oh he's still playing RL, for South Sydney lol, even AFL kickers are deemed more appropriate to chase.

I like how RL supporters live in a little world, truely believing that they have better, the facts are - college football sides are more succesful then anything the NRL has ever had, the athletes are better then anything that RL has ever had...even 'fat LT's or LG's could probably out run most forwards - these guys are 6'8-10 330+ pounds lol

Oh yeah league has the better athletes.

NFL > NRL, the only thing league has over Gridiron is the endurance aspect, however i would rather be like a Usain Bolt rather then a Steve Monagetti lol

Well the main reason would be that they don't recruit NRL players to the sport, is unlike the AFL every other sport generally recruits players who have a background.

Mason never trialled with anyone did he? I thought that was all paper talk??

And as for your asertion that the overweight Offensive and Defensive line players would "outrun" a League forward. Are you drunk???

And the AFL kickers thing how is that relevant to atheletes or playing actual NFL, not going on for 10 seconds and punting?

that is part of the game requirements - kickers, and big people to protect there QB's. In order to not protect the QB, they have to be quick, as defensive gameplans can order blitzers against alot quicker safeties or CB's

So why don't any of these "super human" college football players cross over successfully into rugby(league or union)?

Only 2.4% of them make it to the NFL. So what about the 97.6% who don't make it? I suppose they just prefer working at Walmart or as a lumberjack than being a million dollar a year athlete huh?

They are so good it's surprising "teh NRL scouts aren't kckign down there door down." :sarcasm:

probably go to arena football or do something with their degrees.

it doesn't say much even if after all that they still aren't, i guess i'd rather a cement a career job after completing a degree at Stanford or Penn State, then playing in front of 6,000 at the SFS - kinda humilating when you consider they play in front 70,000 some games in college football

The same thing could be said in the US with teh local RL competition - none go there, i guess it would kinda be step down, much like trying out for Hollywood but being awarded a Bollywood gig lol

LOL Arena Football League where the average salary is a quarter of what it is in the NRL(85k) and the average crowd is 9k. Much less than the NRL's crowds.

Do something with their degrees? HAHHAHAHA. Most of them do the most basic useless courses just so they can concentrate on football, and make sure their grades are the bare minimum just so they can play football. You think all those African American's football players are studying medicine in their spare time? "Career job" LOL.

So I guess they do prefer to use their super human strength to work as a lumberjack or stack shelves at Walmart than earn millions of dollars eh. All 97.4% of them too. :sarcasm:

Maybe the reason would be he has never played an American Football game in his life?

Its such stupid logic. They are different sports with different required skill sets. Its like saying if NRL players were that great, then the NBA would have signed them up.

Perhaps because these guys finish college at the age of 22-24. Then you take a year or two to get them up to scratch in RL they are making the debuts at the age of 26!! What a waste of time developing them when you may get 5 years out of them tops... NFL has a Euro league as an option. Canada also have a league where a lot of them end up... decent money but not as big as the NFL.

Paul Sironen playing as a DT, but never got a huge amount of game time for Hawaii. He ended up coming home after he didnt see the point of schooling full time if he wasnt playing.

Colin Scotts is another who played grade Rugby Union for Scots College and went through College FB playing for UH. Was drafted to the NFL by the Cardinals for a number of years. His book is actually a great read if anyone is interested.

Has the NFL ever signed up a player from another sport that wasn't a punter? It's a bit much to say no league player has ever played NFL because they're 'not good enough' of course they're not gonna sign a player who's never played when they have a gigantic base of players playing college football to choose from. Why don't they just sign up Olympic sprinters or weightlifters they're fast and strong people who have never played the sport either.

Saying that the NFL would definitely have better athletes considering America seem to dominate any sport they take seriously plus they have like a gizzilion people to choose from. People are exaggerating how much better they are though imo, they're only human after all and I'm sure there would be plenty of nrl players who would easily hold their own against even the best of them if they ever did make the switch (not that they ever would.)

This has been done to death a million times. NRL players heading over to the NFL would be out of their depth and vice versa.

Watch an episode of Hard Knocks and tell me NFL players aren't as conditioned as NRL players. They train just as hard albeit, different ways.

However, the NFL does have the better athletes. They've got a couple of guys who are straight up freaks. Find me a guy Calvin Johnson's size who can do what he can in the NRL. Some of their wide receivers have hands guys in our league can only dream about. They make insane catches.

It's got nothing to do with race either. It's purely a population thing. If you've got ten people, chances of finding a diamond are slimmer than if you've got a thousand.

Bit off topic but have any off you ever wondered what someone like Lebron James could do if he had an NRL background? 6-8 250 pounds and would easily be the best athlete in the NRL, dude can jump out of the arena and has great mobility. To go with all of that he is a amazing passer so he would probably have a great offload especially given the size of his hands. The possibilities are endless...

Lebron James is a perfect example of what I meant. We just don't produce athletic freaks like that. The NBA and NFL is littered with them.

LOL

9k isn't far of Melbourne Storm crowds lol

Kurt Warner was stacking shelves at 26 without a club, a couple years later he was the best QB in the league.

College football >>>>>>>>>>>>NRL

Well obviously there superhuman strength wasn't super human enough to beat out the others in the NFL:D why would they play League, they wouldn't even know what it is like 99.9% of the world

Not one RL player has the requirments to make a play for a position in the NFL, the best athlete in Australian history Greg Inglis wouldn't even make a college side, even with a couple of years training behind his back, you have to realise that RL athletes aren't so great;-)

He would also play basketball, and quickly realise that he could make a lot of money playing basketball.... so he would play basketball.
