So 75% of all Cat As and 80% of all Cat Bs have been sold for the opener, whilst the lower bowl is also at 90% capacity and the East Stand is 'sold out'.

Sounding like the opener is on track to be filled by kick off. With the Final also selling well, definitely provides some good bookends for the tournament.
What about the QF’s ? Semis and other major games ? The games in the big grounds that need an atmosphere?.

For England v France at Bolton, all category D, E & Premium Seats are sold out and around 65% of category C are gone.

England v Greece at Sheffield only has limited Category D & E tickets left.

Only the Quarter Final at Hull, which also features England v Canada in the Women's has low availability.

Both Semi Finals claim to have low availability, with Cat D approaching capacity, though still appear to have plenty of tickets in all other categories.

In non-England games, Australia v Fiji & NZ v Ireland at Headingley are selling well with all Premium, Cat C & D seats gone and most of Cat B (90%) for the Kangaroos v Bati.

Scotland v Italy at Kingston Park has very limited seats left in the Grandstand.

There are other games marked as low availability, however not sure what is translating to in terms of volume of tickets moved. Slightly concerning that at many games it's Cat D & E that are selling out first. Makes one wonder whether there are some pricing issues at some games.

The organisers are getting what they deserve. So many perfectly sized boutique stadiums in the south that could have done a job for them. I would have used a 20k football stadium in London and Ashton Gate in Bristol for some of the higher profile pool fixtures.

Would have they got any crowds in the south in the heart of rugby union territory?

Surely, if marketed correctly. Especially with the larger Lebanese, French and Greek communities in north London.

i think it a mistake not playing 2x pool games in a boutique football stadium in London like the Den, Valley parade or Loftus rd and I would have also played a pool game and a quarter final at Ashton Gate in Bristol.

I would have done something like this

Final - Manchester
Semi finals - London & Newcastle
Quarter finals - Leeds, Bristol, Coventry, & Hull

So 3 weeks ago, there was a post that suggested a sell out for the England v Samoa match and now it’s still 15,000 short!?

Who can give us accurate figures??

That was misinterpreted, they said some areas had sold out.
40k or above is a great outcome for the opener against samoa. We aren't union or soccer!
The opening game of the last world cup only drew 22k between Australia and England!

They like using the word 'sell out' a lot in their releases, and saying things like 'certain sections are sold out' or the match is 'on track for a sell out' a lot, which is a bit of a double edged sword.

On one hand it can make an event seem more popular than it is and encourage people to get a move on and buy tickets, on the other it can see people who were planning to buy suddenly not bother as they think the event is sold out or all the decent seats are gone. Unfortunately it looks like the later has happened with the opener as the lower bowl was pretty much near capacity 2 weeks ago (roughly 35K).

It's not impossible to move those last seats, but never great when momentum stalls, still we should hopefully see 40K+, which as Perth Red said, is a strong opening crowd and will look good on TV with the lower bowl full. Hopefully as well we can get close to the 45,032 we got at Millenium Stadium for 2013 (which in fairness was also a double header and also included the blockbuster fixture of Australia v England).

Whilst not the opener, positive that England v France has now less than 5,000 tickets. That means that match is over 23K.
