Yep, the less tackles he has to make the better.
And defending with strong defenders will mean less decisions for him to make in defense.

exactly. his sole purpose in defence would be to wrap up the ball, so that even if/when he gets isolated somewhat, he will be in the perfect position to hold up a potential try scoring attempt.

Defending 3 in from touch, he's on his own.

With two good defenders either side, they will make his defence decisions for him.

You would think he would have a point to prove.

Pretty big fall from grace, by a former a superstar of the game. Dropped by the tigers then failed miserably at the blues.

Enough motivation to drop the attitude and the airs and graces, rip into training and prove he isn't washed up.

Stick him at 1 or 3. He can play like hayne and chime in whenever.

He will play fullback for us or 5/8.
No ifs, no buts.
Only trouble with it all is the late offers coming in & lower tier player trades.

Why can't he attack at fullback and defend in the centres.??

Gordon is safe as houses (up until last week) under the high ball and goes pretty well on the broken play running.
Marshall then becomes the third receiver with Gordon hitting a straight line and a winger outside. He will attract defenders and make space for the winger.

Who knows?? We I'll probably play prior at centre before him.

Carney and Marshall are not even half as good at organising the side and plays as Robson is.

That is a clear and obvious fact.

Everyone has seen the improvement in the Sharks structure and attack since Robson returned.

Sharks with Robson this year - 3 games for 59 points
Sharks without Robson this year - 4 games for 28 points

Until you find a better or equal halfback to Robson, there's no way in the world should it even be considered that he is moved to hooker, or a part time role.

The sharks attack improved, because there are now two adequate points of attack. Thats what takes the pressure off.

Similar to how benji struggled with that shit krrnt, moltzen, Carney struggles with the even shitter chhunt in holdsworth.

Your statement could equally read

Sharks with two competent first grade halves this year - 3 games for 59 points
Sharks with one competent first grade half this year - 4 games for 28 points.

Benji has a massive boot, which would take the pressure off carney immeasurably.

Look, it's not the ideal combination based on the accepted norm of one defensive half, one flair half, but why buy a Ferrari if you're only gonna drive it to woollies. Marshall would be wasted at centre ...particularly in our setup.

I'm lost - where's the Sharks forum?

I like this, but my only thought on marshall is that he wouldn't have that support play hussle that the top 1's have these days. He'd ball play the shi!t out of it though

Just a quick kinda OT question. Lots of good discussion in here about where to play who and other things. Surely these discussions take place within the coaching staff at the club too, right?

He would be a huge improvement in attack at fullback for sure. Can he catch though?

I'd like to think so.

Happy to take a credit hit, I did however, tell people in private that this was all being done low key.

Nothing low key about it at all. He met the Flan & agreed weeks ago.
At least 3 current players are gone years end or sooner. Shame because I liked 2 of them.
Marshall will be playing fullback for us.
The thorn in the side is lower tier player trade deals & late offers coming in now everybody knows it is serious.

You have Benji at fullback running the ball back in broken play first time we will have had a fullback since Peach that could cause all sorts of damage.

Add that he can link with Ryan & Feki and the back 3 all of a sudden look very dangerous.

Gordon & Leutele in centres, the team does look much better.

Benji can play that Slater type role at fullback he chimes in another playmaker it could work

Playing fullback? So I take it Holmes will be leaving?

No reason too, bring him up on the wing, Minichello started like that.

Carney will be injured now and then Marshall would move to 5/8, Holmes gets his crack at fullback.

Might be benefit to Holmes as he will be playing and training along side an attacking player

Benji struggled because he needed space and the Tigers forwards religiously got monstered by the opposition.

He only ever played alongside one genuine halfback, Prince, and that ended after 2006. He continued to play quite well up til the end of 2011, carrying halfback after halfback.

He needs room. He would get that at centre or five-eighth and if I were coaching the side, I wouldn't have Benji over Carney at five-eighth.

Benji's one great game last year was on Luke Brooks' debut. benji played at left centre that day, watch the highlights, he was making quick scoots from dummy half, involved in plays etc, had room to move and didn't have the burden of steering the side around.

He absolutely killed it.

It's no fluke. He struggled all year. In one game the pressure was taken off him and he was played at centre and he had arguably his best game in at least 2 years.

hahah, not all agents know what is actually really happening. The Benji deal is not sudden at all & one fella has to take a lot of credit for it if it comes off. Might be a song and dance about it if its known.
