An offseason under Wayne, and a signing or 2 will sort our forwards out. Our backline and juniors backs look solid already...

Agreed but where Wayne goes so does Darius. Boyd is a good player when his head isnt up his own ass but I think he's a wanker. If Bennett doesnt want Mary as assistant I'm sure he will get the Cutters job

lol, yeah and whats with that red pube beard he is sporting? If he is part of the bennett package deal the we need to invoke a no red pube beard clause.

Bennett has a record such that it is worth taking a risk on him being able to reproduce his best.
Yes we fell away in the latter part of 2011, but the possible reasons for that have been documented.
Yes Bennett did say he didn't know how to fix it. However something he has always been strong on is absorbing the criticism and directing it away from the playing group to a greater extent.
He did get the Knights well into the finals last year. A feat I thought was an over achievement for that particular crew.
This year has been an 'annus horibilis' by anyone's standards surely.
Does he still have it? I hope we get the chance to find out. I bet plenty of the players feel the same.

'Oust Doust' ,what was that all about.

All part of the plan.

To save himself, he needed to act and be put on notice by the dragons faithful.

Something needed to be done and hopefully has been. I'm sure you were one of many callin for a change. Let's hope it happens.

Mc Gregor has proven that he has what it takes to lift the team and has gained respect even from the sceptics.

I too think mcgregor can do a good job. At first I was like here we go again.

Bennett is a no brainer, would love Mary as assistant cause I think he is capable of keeping the Bennett formula once bennettleaves us.

We've shown improvement, but I think it's too early to be laying claim to Mary having proved anything conclusively. There are 8 weeks and some hurdles to go yet. Let's see how we are faring at season's end. Much better placed to judge then.

I was 100% against Mcgregor as he was already a part of the coaching structure that was failing miserably so all I can think is Price was calling all the shots and not taking onboard any idea's from the other coaches, based on that I may have been a lil harsh on Albert as well. Although to be fair his head coaching record was pretty poor

I can't fault Mcgregor at this point as everything he has done is working in terms of winning games, that much is not debatable. Over our last 5 games we are the equal best performing team with the Panthers & Warriors and we are the only team thats won the last 3 games. Doesn't make a season but sure better than being on the other end of the scale as we were. I also like the way he addresses the media and the way he put the team on notice.

He's achieved an enormous turn around and the only thing that remains to be seen is can he turn things around if his ideas stop working. I felt with Price that was where he fell down. I do hope if Bennett comes he keeps him on as assistant

Some people underestimate how close we were in 2011. We played brilliantly against a red hot Brisbane side only to go down in golden point (a match we probably should have won).

Then it would have been Manly in the prelim and the Warriors in the grand final. 2 teams we had easily beaten during the season.

I say with some confidence if we had beaten Brisbane we would have gone on to win the comp comfortably.

Always said that,i sat behind the line of that awful looking fieldgoal and if it missed we would have got them and beaten Manly the following week.

The more desperate Dragons supporters are to get Benny back, as evidenced by this thread, the more I reckon he'll be inclined to go elsewhere.

You've got a rookie coach who has suddenly put you into the finals picture, and every one of you want to shit on him. You deserve what you get.

Who's desperate knucklehead, these are rumours and we are discussing a coach who bought us success and the possibility of him coming back.
Bet you were ropeable when Matt Elliot got the flick.

Don't let the facts get in the way

The semi v Bronco's was as gutsy a performance I saw from a Dragons side ever.In front of 50,000 and soaking up so much pressure ,it was the experience of Bennett which got the boys up after an average 2nd half of the season where we could have just whimpered,it's when coaches earn their money.
This is where facts do lie.

I didn't say we didnt put in effort or didnt play well. To say we nearly won the comp when we got bundled out of the semi's with 2 straights losses and only had to beat Manly to make the Grandfinal which we wouldve won if we had beaten the Broncos is a stretch. Like I posted that means all the other teams in the semi's nearly won the comp especially the teams that actually won a semifinal which we did not. That is not getting the team up as we lost

On PRICE it was obvious he learned nothing from BENNETT, he struck me as a bloke who thought he could reinvent the wheel by strange selections in certain positions and sticking to game plans that didn't work as if he had revolutionised the game and he just couldn't see that it wasn't working, unfortunately just THINKING positive won't do it.

Mary certainly has had a positive effect on the side but it will take until seasons end to work out wether he's the long term answer , I'm sure BENNETT would be looking to tie things up soon on his future then the club should move if they are serious about him and he is interested.

I think money is an issue for the club, for that reason Mary would be convenient, but it was mentioned here earlier in the year that there was a sponsor willing to stump up cash for BENNETT ,so lets hope DOUST can do the deal sooner rather than a wait and see situation.

I'm sure Doust is on it and would be trying to lock Bennett away ASAP. Nice to have Mary as a back up rather than trying to sign a coach who has under performed and crossing our fingers he can do better.

On Price, you hit the nail on the head. IMO a good coach is measured by the way he reacts when his structures and game plan aren't working. Price had no idea and stuck to things that were proven not to be working

I'd love Scott back but he is 30 now so would be playing at 31 next year which would probably be his last season although he is signed to the knights til the end of 2016
This is fascinating. How old will Scott be the following year?

Something around your IQ I imagine. Get back to me when you've got something to contribute instead of having a go at me or other people. Very school yard

That game was one of the few losses I can remember that I was nothing but proud of the effort the team put in. I walked away after Lockyer kicked the field goal thinking that at least no one could say they didn't put in. And it confirmed what a pathetic solution golden point is in major games. At least play 10 minutes of extra time first. For the record I agree they would have gone on to win the comp, the confidence from such a gritty win would have got them up for the next 2 games.
