Brian Smith -> Roosters?

I always thought history would judge Michael Hagan the better coach at the knights.

Hagan has a better winning %

But Smithy has some loyal followers at our club. Hopefully they can take the blinkers off now and realise what a germ he always was.

4 year deal.

Smith wanted a long term contract and Knights did not offer it.

Seriously though, is this not where most of us expected to be?

3 years in after hitting a very low patch in a solid position ready to start contesting the title over the next few years?

Job done as far as I am concerned.

He is not popular, but he made the tough decisions required and now the next phase is about to start.

Exactly.

I don't think badly of him at all. He hasn't just gone out and signed with the Roosters, he's discussed it with Burraston and co.

Obviously he and his family will be better off by moving back to Sydney too.

And yes id also say mission accomplished by Brian Smith.

BUT I don't like how it's come out now, as I said in my first post, has the potential to completely ruin what has been a pretty good year so far.

He is not popular.

Understatement of the year.

There are literally Roosters players on the phone to their managers right now.

How easy will it be to hate the Roosters now?!

Better still, how much better will it be to LOVE THE KNIGHTS WITH MORE PASSION ONCE AGAIN.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

You are carrying on like a tool Karma.

I'm overjoyed by the news Pika.

He is a w*nker who has messed up more clubs ( and players ) than he has helped them.

His actions now ( and more so the timing of them ) also have the potential to ruin our 2009.

But I'm not sure Smith really gives a rats.

My sentiments exactly. Do Knights supporters have faith in Burriston to select the right man for the next phase at this club? Do we have any reason to doubt him?(beside the fact he has let Smith go a year early). His record is pretty bloody good is it not.

Lol you're a dickhead

How does 1 individual affect how you support a team?

I mean surely only Hagan could have, be flogged 50 nil and post conference would be "we were alright"..

That maybe true mate.

But the only Club that matters is ours.

And I dont think another Coach under the conditions he had, especially budget, could have done a better job.

Like him or not, The Newcastle Knights are in a much better place in 2009 than they were in 2006.

At least Hagan was likeable.

Oh, and has a better winning % at the Knights than Smith does.

Ouch.

Not sure if you remember, but Hagan had a different bloke playing halfback.

Migfht have something to do with that winning percentage.

For information on hagan's ability without A.Johns, ask your local Parra fan.

Ouch.

No no no... what was Hagans record without Johns compared to Smiths?

Game. Set. Match?

HAHAHA as if that matters!

Stretching much?!

You coach with what is in front of you.

Stats will always say Hagan's Knights winning % will be higher than Smiths. You can twist it all you like.

My being upset with Smithy is due to the fact that he hasn't messed us up. Exactly the opposite Karma. Pika is right. You are seriously getting carried away with your dislike of Smith. I reckon you are Kirk Reynoldson.

I'm just stirring Jono ;-)

I just think leaving a contract midway through, is low.

Simple as that.

Not that I am unhappy to see him leave, quite the opposite, but as an Eels fan already said on here, Brian Smith has never once seen out his contract, and the timing of this shows a complete disrespect for the Kngihts players and the rest of 2009, as well as Newcastle fans.

It's a joke.
