Sorry dude, rough day, still no excuse for being narky, but I am sorry.

Reed is a tough one and to be honest if Hodges doesn't hang up his rep boots I can see him being injured a lot in 2015. Personally I would play Reed and Copely in the centres and Hodges at fullback with Milford on the bench.

I would runn with the following side personally.

1 - Hodges
2 - Vidot
3 - Reed
4 - Copely
5 - Kahu/Maranta/Hoffman/Eden
6 - Barba
7 - Hunt
8 - McGuire
9 - McCullough
10 - Parker
11 - Glenn
12 - Thaiday
13 - Gillett

14 - Milford
15 - Garbutt
16 - Oates
17 - Kennedy

I can't see us keeping Hannant, if we are chasing Packer surely Hannant is gone.

Eh I didn't used to get Glenn but I've been warming to him for a while now. He does tough STRAIGHT runs when no one else is willing, he truly is a player who leads by example. Running off Barba + Hodges has given him more quality ball too.

@Kiwi, look I think Hodges has been a revelation at fullback too, but for the balance of the team, Milford needs to start. We can't have 600k on one bench player. He'll get plenty of quality ball with Hunt and Milford passing it to him.

Bronco18 is right; Milford isn't coming up here for a bench spot. He is coming up to be a premiership winning fullback, something he will never be at Canberra, just like Hayne will never be if he stays in Parramatta.

well it is looking more and more likely Hannant and Hoffman will make way for Packer and Boyd.

I hope we don't get Bord as it just creates to many problems of where to play him, and everyone else in the backline.

whilst acknowledging his clear deficiencies in defence, I still think Millford needs to be fullback. He can create try's out of nothing like no one else in the team can do.

My 2015 backline would be.

1. Millford
2. Vidot
3. Copely
4. Hodges
5. Hoffman
6. Barba
7. Hunt

I hope we don't lose Hannant for piss pants Packer. I rate Boyd among the best fullbacks in the game, but his problem is he only participates when he feels like it.

Packer is a beast and would provide the intimidation factor our forward pack is missing.

Yeah Packer would be great, he's huge and aggressive.

It seems at the moment we have a "only recruit twats" policy though (Dugan, Boyd, Packer)...

And he's a wee bit bigger than our current drop of front rowers.

Still reckon we should make a play for Moltzen. I think we can corner the fullback market!

If we buy all the fullbacks none of the other teams will have any and we'll win because we're better than them at having fullbacks.

Yeah.

its an interesting move for sure but not a to far out there one.

Fullbacks are generally known as great defenders(Inglis, Stewart etc) and speed men (barba, hayne etc).(there are more types chill just go with it)

Why not have a back line full of them?

Imagine if your back line looked more something like a rotating roster no permanent position.
7 guys all capable of playing in the halves (inc the 6 and7)
who can defend really well and are quick/elusive,
5 guys who can play either side of the field .

Sure you have set defensive positions (they may even change game by game) but how does someone respond to a stacked attacking move say 5 of them on the left half and the 2 halves on the right ?
Nrl teams are not ready for switches in defence like that yet
and could lead to success untill teams adjust (just like the wrestle won alot of games for the early adopters)

dont get me wrong if you are in that position every week
you will perform better in that position
but the style of attacking plays this could open up could lead to what everyone has been asking for ....MORE ATTACKING PLAYS

tl;dr has someone been talking to the walker brothers

ok surely now everyone can accept that Hodges isn't a long term fullback option.

Totally overplayed his hand last night.

Obviously given time Hodges would hone his game at fullback, but it comes down to playing to our strengths next year, and playing to our strengths will mean playing Milford at fullback.

Hmm I'm not sure. The problem last night mainly was that he was out of position in attack. With proper coaching and a proper five eight, I think he will still be our most dangerous player on the second man play, even more so then Milford.

In saying that though, I'm not sure how it will all pan out so I'll reserve my judgement. Barba could end up on the bench. Good to have options

Hodges is co-captain - therefore calls the shots. He was pushing McCullough out of dummy half continually and of course McCullough got out of the way.

If Hodges plays fullback, he should not be calling the attack - it should still be the halves.

On Barba, he is a player in decline. After winning the Dally M he has shown little or nothing - like Ewan McGrady. Just talk to any Bulldogs supporter about last year.

He needs a lightning rod where the sun doesn't shine - and before that happens I would predict any improvement we will see in his game will be spasmodic - only doing what he needs to stay in the team.

I would rather a rookie at 5/8 than Barba on his performances over the past two months - because at least a rookie may improve. Barba won't.
