I don't know if King is staying or going next year but I can tell u to watch out for Adam Quinlan popping up as our back up hooker next year he has the skills and the speed.

Bit harsh of Rein fellas. I think it was a bit hard for anyone to shine in this years team. I'm sorry to see King go but I understand why. Looking forward to seeing Rein work with an established 1/2 and 5/8. Will do wonders for him game and he's still only young! You can't question his ticker. He tackles anything that runs at him and I think he'll only get better. Would have liked to see King play some 5/8 this year - especially when we no longer had a chance to make the finals. Could have worked up a decent combination in my opinion and may have influenced Doust and co to keep him on.

...welcome to the Forum : )

not just after we were no Chance of making finals but experimentation in General should have happened well before then too. After all, it was a 'rebuilding year'

Instead we got the exact opposite.

Thank you BFD.
Was on here some time ago under this name but only just come back on.
Love reading the comments as we really have some funny buggers on here; Some I disagree with and some I agree.
All in all bleed Red & White. Looking forward to 2014!

Its a toss up between Quinlan and Cook for backup hooker imo, just a question on whether Adam can do the defensive work, if he can, his speed would be LETHAL.

With King going I think the plan is for Garvey to be the backup, but Quinlan is a good option with his versatility. Who knows ? Quinlan could be playing in the halves with the experience from this season giving him more confidence.

Do you have it on good authority that King is gone or are you assuming he is going?

Quinlan could become a Kurt Gidley style utility player who can play that triangle role of halves and hooker as well as fullback and outside backs too. Could make a great bench player who covers so many areas not just hooker.

yeah i agree, i mentioned the same in another thread.. he could be the new "triangle" player coming off the bench.
i think that is his best hope of playign first grade long term given the players we have in his preferred positions (Dugan and Widdop) for 2014

I was pleasantly surprised by Quinlan's defence in the Warriors game - he handled Konrad Hurrell rather well. That said there is a big difference between making one tackle (at the most) per set compared to going up and back 6 times every set and making multiple tackles.

This.

King is contracted to us for 2014. His substantially upgraded contract in 2012 has seen little return for the investment. I have no issue if he goes and frees up cap space but it's all conjecture at this point. I would think there is a better replacement coming through that offers greater potential and value for money. The club may be acting on that and may try to move him along. However, if he's shopping himself around for next season, he can pi55 off now as far as I'm concerned.
Don't forget that journalists sneak in here and lurk amongst the humans.

1 thread and it's back page news....lol
